Media related to Consolidated city-counties, the result of one or more cities and their surrounding county (parish in Louisiana, borough in Alaska) merging into one unified jurisdiction in the United States. While similar, a consolidated city-county differs from an independent city in that the city and county both nominally exist (although they have a consolidated government), whereas in an independent city, the county (or parish or borough) does not even nominally exist.
Note, while there are independent cities outside the United States, consolidated city-county is term exclusive to the United States.
