Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Image Tagging Image:Pristina4.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Pristina4.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you.

Kosovo
Because, the hell, we use the native names here when it's possible. I know this is a disputed country/region and maybe I should have waited longer. But maybe you know better, what are the correct native names of Kosovo (if these are wrong)? Aaker (talk) 15:53, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Please take your Image:Europe location KOS.png dispute to the Village Pump
Please could both of you User:Cradel and User:Rokerismoravee stop edit warring on the Image:Europe location KOS.png and take the issue higher up to decide which images should show what. I suggest Commons:Village Pump. Thank you. -Wikibob (talk) 02:13, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
I have now edited both image variants, please see my edits here and here:
- [1] (Reverted to version as of 00:27, 18 January 2007 - Map showing location of Kosovo, marked red, in Europe; see Image:Europe location SRB with KOS.png for variant with Serbia in gray. Let the commons user projects decide which to use. Take any disputes to the Commons:Village pump and do not revert war, thank you.)
- [2] (added English top description; added deroderdes, unlink all Kosovo because template now does this; add other_versions)
I have also edited Template:Europe location (diff).
If anyone has any problems, please take it to the Village Pump and let the image files remain stable. -Wikibob (talk) 03:24, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'll do that when I have some more free ;)--Cradel ( ) 20:04, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism
Adding a disputed province of Serbia to maps of fully sovereign nations is a violation of NPOV standards and may account to vandalism. Please stop. --Tocino 00:06, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- but those nations have recognised Kosovo --Cradel (talk) 10:10, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- You should change the description too and be more carefuly. Im watching Image:EU location GER.png, of course from the german pint of view europe has a independet state Kosovo - but not on the 1st of January 2007. --Martin H. (talk) 15:56, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- well, it needs to be updated so I updated that too --Cradel (talk) 16:02, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Kosovo on maps
I've written out a small proposal on how to treat Kosovo on maps here: Image talk:Continental-Europe-map.png#Kosovo - a solution. I'd like your feedback. Thanks! Hoshie (talk) 11:07, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi,
I have protected this image because of a editwar. Since you worked on this image i would like to hear you opinion about what version should be used. The discussion can be found at Image talk:EU on kosovo independence.png
Thanks, Sterkebaktalk 17:12, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
hi there,
I have moved the article Kosovo back to the native name Kosova - Косово и Метохија. Articles are kept in native tongue while categories are in English (in this case Kosovo). You can use Commons:Language policy are a reference for future questions. sincerely Gryffindor (talk) 19:17, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

- You cited a non-free site as a source, and claimed copyright on the picture. Someone clarified that only the data was from this site, so I guess it's OK. Please accept my apologies, this was my mistake.
- I was also under the impression that you used a map from Category:Blank_maps_of_the_world, that would require proper attribution. Again, I apologize if this is not true, but it should be clarified. Tryphon (talk) 23:14, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
