Same case as Commons:Deletion requests/File:, LUX Luxembourg (Findel), Luxembourg PP1386538123.jpg. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 23:16, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
- I wonder why this should be the same case as in my picture you see no details of the building. If so, then all the pictures on Google are illegal? cf. Christian Ries (talk) 06:58, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Christian Ries no, most images on the Internet are not under commercial licenses. But here on Commons, only commercial-type licenses are permitted (like CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, or CC-zero). Licenses that forbid commercial re-uses are not allowed. Luxembourgish law is simply not compatible with Wikimedia Commons, because only works still under copyrights of architects or sculptors can be freely used if the works are not the main subjects of the reproductions, and photography is one form of reproducing those artworks. - Many images showing recent monuments and architecture of Luxembourg have been deleted in the past, see Category:Luxembourgish FOP cases/deleted. If the copyright law is reformed to remove restriction that reproductions are only lawful if the works are not the main subjects, then those Luxembourgish landmarks can now be hosted on Commons under allowed commercial licenses and the deleted images can be restored or undeleted, like the case of Belgian landmarks that were restored when they finally implemented Freedom of Panorama in 2016.
