The Quantum Entanglement Science and Technology (QuEST) program was announced by the DARPA Microsystems Technology Office (MTO) in 2008. As a follow-on to the success of the QUIST Program, its goal was to further accelerate development in the field of quantum information science. Example areas under investigation included Shor's factoring algorithm, quantum machine learning, quantum game theory, secure quantum communications, quantum ghost imaging and interaction-free measurement, quantum-enhanced image processing, remote sensing, quantum radar and quantum metrology, e.g. entanglement-assisted gravitomagnetic interferometry.[1][2][3][4]

DARPA seeks innovative proposals that enable revolutionary advances in the field of quantum information science and technology. Proposals may address multi-qubit entanglement; conversion between types of qubits while preserving entanglement and coherence; understanding decoherence, identification of new challenges where quantum information is likely to provide dramatic improvement, and experimental demonstrations of such improvement.
