article in a category

change

Why put the article in a category of how many words it contains? If something needs to be explained with simple words and sentences then I think it will need a lot of words. Logictheo 13:00, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Basic English 850 words category is a list of 850 words compiled by Charles Kay Ogden. They are the easy words that people who wish to learn English learn first. It's not based on the number of words in the article. Hope this helps! zephyr2k 14:02, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

unsimple

change

This article uses a few complex words like propagate, graft, rootstock, culinary, etc. This should be a quick one. zephyr2k 11:18, 20 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've updated it. Is this simplified enough? Koweja 15:19, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think it looks a lot better. It might need some organization and sections, but I think it is improving.--Filll 16:08, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
it still needs work. I started reading it and thought I had accidentally gone to Wik/en. Kdammers (talk) 14:20, 26 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

You just copied the real wikipedia's Apple

change

I think the creator of this page just copied the real wikipedia's "Apple". Sorry but I changed the complicated words to easy words. Regards Zayyam123 (talk) 12:55, 1 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I agree, this is an obvious copy, as happened often in the earlier days of Simple. It has been simplified to some extent. Macdonald-ross (talk) 16:43, 1 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

shape

change

". Colorful skin, easy shipping, disease resistance, 'Red Delicious' apple shape, and popular flavor are also needed.[10]" - I tried to check the reference, but got a notice that the link does not exist. I think the "red delicious apple shape" should be removed, but I didn't because maybe it is actually from the sourcKdammers (talk) 10:25, 21 December 2020 (UTC)e.Reply

In culture: In popular culture, the fruit Adam gave to Eve was an apple. I think this should be included. Kdammers (talk) 14:49, 16 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Intro note

change

Even before the lede, there is the note "This article is about the fruit tree. For other uses, see Apple (disambiguation)." However, the article seems to be mostly about the fruit rather than the tree. Shouldn't this be changed to avoid some-one seeing it and hopping over to the disambig page in search of an article about the fruit? Kdammers (talk) 18:29, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Would it be appropriate to mention the phrase "as American as apple pie"?Kdammers (talk) 20:38, 11 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yellow Sweeting, [not] the first variety of the U.S.

change

An entry, "Yellow Sweeting, the first variety of the U.S.," had no reference. I have searched in apple-history articles and articles Web sites about yellow varieties. I couldn't find any mention of this variety. So I removed it. Kdammers (talk) 19:59, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Section(s) needed

change

Since China is the largest produced, we need a section on Chinese apple growing. One on Turkey would also be useful. Kdammers (talk) 20:01, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

variant

change

We currently have a section on 'variants' and one listing 'varieties.' I've never heard "variant" used for kinds of apples, and the word links to "cultivar." Should the two sections be merged? Kdammers (talk) 00:45, 29 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Return to "Apple" page.
