Nederlands: Titel: "Het Groote Tafereel der Dwaasheid." Dit is een anoniem boek geschreven in het Nederlands in 1720. Een satire op de financiële wereld. Er staat een karikatuur op van de Schotse econoom John Law en de Windhandel. Het faillissement van John Law's Mississippi Company leidde tot het Franse staatsbankroet in 1720. Uittreksel: "... familien en persoonen van hooge en lage stand zyn geruineerd, en in haar middelen verdorven, en de opregte negotie gestremt, zo in Vrankryk, Engeland als Nederland ... Gedrukt tot waarschouwinge voor de nakomelingen in ’t noodlottige jaar, voor veel zotte en wyze."
English: Het groote Tafereel der dwaasheid (1720). English title: The Great Mirror of Folly. This is an anonymous book written in Dutch. A satire of the world of finance. It features a caricature of the Scottish economist John Law and the Windhandel. The failure of John Law's Mississippi Company led to the French national bankruptcy in 1720. |
