Sanyas from your harem of devices

    Synopsis

Maharaja of Machines is passé. A true aristocrat is tired of polygadgetophilia.

Sanyas From Your Harem of Devices
Left to our own devices, an overwhelming number of us would like to make our lives simpler. The harem of devices that contemporary life insists on us maintaining, makes not just the upkeep of our tech tools take up a large chunk of our existential RAM, but makes us wonder whether such rampant polygadgetophilia is worth one's love life. The truly rich not carrying an ounce of cash with her or him became a trend long before we lurched towards becoming a cashless society. In fact, cashlessness became a mark of being a true aristocrat. Mind you, this is not having no access to money, but not carrying it oneself as if one needs such 'loose change'. Can we be now flouncing towards a good life where having a harem of devices is seen as a social haraam, marking a petty obsession of 'being connected, staying connected' with unalloyed hoi polloi, all because of actually falling for shiny, wireless, vibrating, charging, buzzing, digitaliban devices?

In physics, scientists have been trying to line the ToE - theory of everything - since the early 20th century. Its equivalent in the gadgetary world is the universal remote (control) that, in one single device, does the job of all devices. Perhaps this Megarani of Machines will exist one day. Perhaps it won't. But wouldn't it be simpler to hang the hardware harem and take sanyas from silicon?
