Jennifer Shilling is a Democratic Party member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 95th Assembly District since 2000 covering the City of La Crosse, Wisconsin.[1]

Background

Prior to being elected, she worked as a legislative aide to Democratic State Representative Mark Meyer and United States Representative Ron Kind. Shilling is a graduate of UW-La Crosse and a former La Crosse County Supervisor.[2]

Representative Shilling is a graduate of UW-La Crosse, the Bowhay Institute on Legislative Leadership Development and the Citizen’s Police Academy in Onalaska, Wisconsin, a suburb of La Crosse. In 2001, she was selected to participate in the American Council of Young Political Leaders delegation to the Philippines, and in 2002 was the commencement speaker for the UW-La Crosse graduation.[3]

Representative Shilling currently serves on the Legislature's Joint Committee on Finance, the Assembly Committee on Health and Health Care Reform, and the Assembly Committee on Rules. In addition, she is also a member of the Wisconsin Technology Council Board of Directors.[4]

Shilling formally announced her intention to run for the Senate seat now held by Republican Dan Kapanke on April 9, 2011.[8]
