Mitcham is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Mitcham, on the Lilydale and Belgrave railway lines. It is in Metcard Zone 2.

Mitcham is classed as a Premium Station.

Location

The station is located at the western end of the Mitcham Road level crossing and between Calcutta Street and Colombo Street. Shops are located near the station.

Facilities

The station consists of two side platforms. Platform 1 contains a large brick building with an enclosed waiting room and a ticket office inside, while platform 2 contains a small brick building. A large Metcard machine is located inside the waiting room, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2. A crossover and siding are located at the UP end of the station which allows Mitcham to be used as a terminus when necessary although it is rarely used as such.

History

Mitcham station originally opened on Monday, 25th December 1882.
