I find it disheartening, and a poor reflection on the choices of the French, that one of the greatest scientists/mathematicians of the Age of Enlightenment, René Descartes didn't make the list, while film actors did. - ineuw 2006-03-22

Please note Charlemagne achievments were not only military. His monetary, political and educational reforms are deep in the foundations of the modern Europe. To put comedians, playwrights, actors, authors above Napoleon, that replaced sole monarch authority with the Napoleonic Code, and Jeanne who led the French to defeat the English Army, is simply stupid and ridiculous.
