Anna Graceman (born August 1, 1999) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. Graceman rose to fame in the 2009 when she performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and more notably, in 2011, being a top ten finalist of America's Got Talent's sixth season. Since being a contestant on America's Got Talent, Graceman has released many more songs on her YouTube channel. She also has her own merchandise website which sells wristbands, her only album, T-shirts, and posters.

On July 25, 2012, Graceman's debut single was released, "Showtime", a song about fitting in.[1]

On September 25, 2012, Graceman's debut album was released, entitled Anna Graceman. The album featured ten songs.

Early life

Graceman was born on December 5, 1999 in Juneau, Alaska to a stay-at-home mother, Brooks, who played classical music to her before she was born, and a father named Aaron. At three months old, Graceman's parents started displaying flashcards for her to read and gain word association. This sparked the love of music. By the time she was 18 months old, she could sing all the lyrics to many songs. At the age of two, Graceman was not afraid of singing in front of crowds.

When Graceman was four, she could play the piano fluently. In elementary school, Graceman wrote her first song, "So I Cried".

Career

Graceman has written and performed over thirty songs and has an album she has had help in writing songs by her close friend Tiffany Yu.[citation needed]

First single

Graceman's first single official release was on July 25, 2012. The song was called "Showtime" and was about fitting in.

First album

On September 25, 2012, Graceman's "named after self" album was released consisted of ten songs: "Showtime" (her first single, released two months earlier), "Crazy World", "You're a Mystery", "Change Is Coming", "Superstar", "Can We Figure It Out?", "The Only One", "That's Who I Am", "Whispers", and "Lexi's Lullaby". The album is available on iTunes for $7.99 altogether, or $1.29 per song[2] and the album's hardcopie is also available on Graceman's official online store for $9.99.[3]

The Ellen DeGeneres Show

In 2009, Graceman performed a song written by herself called "Paradise" on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. DeGeneres praised Graceman's performance.

America's Got Talent

For Graceman's audition, she performed "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys while playing the piano. She received positive reviews by Howie Mandel, Piers Morgan, and Sharon Osborne which took her into the Vegas round.

In the Vegas round, she performed "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele while playing the piano. However, at one point, she made a mistake on her keyboard. Backstage observers report that there was no sound check and that the sound engineers didn't adjust Graceman's piano to its correct height for her stature. The microphone was also misplaced which prevented Anna from seeing her keys. Technical problems plagued this round which adversely affected many other acts. Despite her mistake, her performance was strong enough to send her into the quarterfinals along with Monet.

In the quarterfinals, she performed "What a Wonderful World" while playing the piano. She received enough votes to send her to the semifinals instead of Dezmond Meeks and Echo of Animal Gardens.

In the semifinals, she performed "Home! Sweet Home! while playing the piano. She received enough votes to send her to the next round with Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.

In the top ten finals, she performed "True Colors" without playing the piano, the first time in the competition. However, she did not receive enough votes to place her in the top four and was eliminated.

Personal life

Graceman credits Jordin Sparks, Taylor Swift, and The Beatles as her main inspirations.[4]
