St Mungo's High School is a mixed, Roman Catholic, secondary school in Falkirk, Scotland. The school is secondary to 6 primary schools in the St Mungo's Cluster including St Francis Xaviers, St Bernadette's, Sacred Heart, St Andrew's, St Patrick's and St Mary's.[2]

The new St Mungo's High School building which was built on the former school's sports pitches opened in 2009.[3]

St Mungo's Cluster

St Mungo's Cluster is a division of St Mungo's High School and is made up of six local denominational primary schools in the Falkirk Council area which include:[2]

Cluster Primary Schools [4]
Primary School Area

Football teams

In 2012 the boys' and girls' football teams won their respective Lloyds TSB Scottish Schools' Shields.[6]

Incidents

In 1996 Lawrence Haggart, a 15-year-old student at the school who had signed forms with Celtic F.C. was murdered in his home by a paedophile, Brian Beattie.[3] A memorial match was played on the 20th anniversary of his death.[7]

In 2013 Andrew Ferguson (17) posted violent and threatening messages about the school and its staff on Twitter. He was ordered to do community service.[8] In 2020 there was a hoax bomb threat.[9]

In February 2022, an examination of facts hearing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court found that Thomas Black, 73, had sexually assaulted four male pupils at the school while he was Head of Biology there between 1978 and 1995. Black was unable to undergo a criminal trial because of health issues, but was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for five years.[10]
