File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:JubileeClips.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. [midnight comet] [talk] 16:02, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jubilee clips image

Hi Sebh007, welcome to Wikipedia.

Thanks for the Jubilee clips image. Particularly as they are "Jubilee" clips, not just generic worm drives.

Couple of issues that aren't obvious and you might like to address:

  • Copyright is hugely important hereabouts. Images _must_ be tagged appropriately, or they get deleted quite quickly. No big deal, but the paperwork needs to be done!
  • If the copyright is "acceptable" (i.e. licensed under an open licence like CC-by-sa or similar) then you might prefer to place the image on Wikimedia Commons rather than Wikipedia. Wikipedia uses images from here transparently, but it also makes that image more easily and obviously available for others to use.
  • MediaWiki software is very good at preview and thumbnail image sizing. You might like to upload this image at high resolution (as I see that you did) and just leave the wiki engine to deal with resizing it as needed. Obviously if you prefer not to (some "commercial" users are happpy to freely license a small image, but not a big one) then that's your choice.

Otherwise thanks for the image, welcome to Wikipedia, and please don't be offended by concerns over copyright and dire warnings of impending deletions! Andy Dingley (talk) 16:16, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sebh007, there's no problem with the image. The situation is now resolved -- the bot was working on this version of the page, which clearly still has the tag on it. As this is now gone, the bot will not retag the image. Thanks for the picture! Best wishes, [[Sam Korn]] (smoddy) 11:25, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
