Metro Manila' is an independently produced film directed by Oscar & BAFTA nominated director Sean Ellis. Ellis also co-produced and co-wrote the film.[1]

Plot

Looking for a better life in Metro Manila, Oscar Ramirez and his family escaped their impoverished life in the rice fields north of the Philippines. But the sweltering capital's bustling intensity quickly overwhelms them, and they fall prey to the rampant manipulations of its hardened locals. Oscar catches a lucky break when he's offered steady work for an armored truck company and gregarious senior officer Ong takes him under his wing. Soon, though, the reality of his work's mortality rate and the murky motives of his new partner force Oscar to confront the perils he faces in his new job and life.

Production

The film was shot on location in the Philippines in 2011 with Filipino cast and crew members. The film used the Filipino language throughout the film.

Release

Metro Manila had its International premiere in the 2013 Sundance Film Festival[2] on January 20, 2013. It was also release in July 17, 2013 in France and will also be released in Belgium on August 28, 2013, Netherlands on August 29, 2013 and the UK on September 20, 2013.

Metro Manila will have its Philippine premiere on October 9, 2013.
