The Simpsons Season 2 DVD.

The Simpsons' 2nd season (October 1990 - May 1991) began on October 11, 1990. This season, the show switched timeslots from Sunday night at 8:00pm to Thursday night at 8:00pm. It would remain at this timeslot until season 6. The second season was released on DVD August 6, 2002. This season saw ratings that the show would rarely reach again, as it was often number one in its timeslot and it would receive higher ratings than The Bill Cosby Show in a highly touted head-to-head battle.[1] Several different characters who would later become main characters were introduced, including Dr. Hibbert[2], Troy McClure[3], Kang and Kodos[4], Lionel Hutz[5], Dr. Nick[5] and Groundskeeper Willie[6].

The second season featured many different guest stars, including Dustin Hoffman (Sam Etic), Danny DeVito, Ringo Starr, Audrey Meadows, Cloris Leachman, Jon Lovitz, Alex Rocco, George Takei, Larry King, James Earl Jones, Harvey Fierstein and Tracey Ullman.

The episode Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment would win the Emmy in 1991 for Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming less than One Hour) and received a second nomination for Outstanding Sound Mixing, which it ultimately lost. [7]
