Kinwar is a clan whose members belong to the Bhumihar Brahmin caste.^[1] the brahmin members principally reside in the states of Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh.^[2] A particularly large population of Kinwar Bhumihars can be found in Ghazipur district.^[3]^[4]

The founders of the Kharagpur Raj principality in Bihar were Kinwar Kshatriya.^[5]
