California's 72nd State Assembly District is one of 80 districts in the California State Assembly. The seat is currently vacant. It was most recently represented by Republican Michael D. Duvall of Yorba Linda. Duvall resigned on September 9, 2009, in the wake of a scandal involving an extramarital affair.[1]

The district currently consists of 14.88% of Orange County, including all of Brea, Fullerton, and Placentia, 37.27% of Anaheim, 38.85% of La Habra, 29.98% of Orange, and 47.09% of Yorba Linda.
