Etymology

From Middle High German knüllen, from Old High German knullen, from Proto-Germanic *knuzlijaną (to bump, to knock, to mash), ultimately derived from Proto-Indo-European *gen- (to squeeze, to pinch). Cognate with English knell and Swedish knulla (to fuck, to have sex).
