Essentials allows replacing certain variables in the motd.
Shout should be able to do this too!

{PLAYERNAME}
{PLAYERDISPLAYNAME}
{IP}
{WORLD} current world
{WORLDS} list of worlds
{ONLINE} number of online players
{PLAYERLIST} online playerlist
{TIME] {DATE}
{WORLDTIME} ingame

perhaps:
{BALANCE} economy service soft-dependency needed
