A narrative is a literary term for the events that make up a story. It is the way the events connect and make up the plot of a story or book.[1]

A narrative reports connected events, presented to the person reading or listener in a sequence of written or spoken words.[2]

A common term for narrative is plot. The study on structure in narratives is called narratology.
