Cameras roll on JJ Abrams' Overlord
Principal photography is underway on Overlord with the three-month shoot based entirely in the UK.
JJ Abrams (pictured) is one of the producers on the Second World War feature which is set during the run-up to D-Day in 1944 and centres on a group of US paratroopers on a key mission behind enemy lines.
On their approach to an occupied Normandy village, the soldiers some up against a different enemy, as supernatural forces created by a Nazi experiment are released.
Julius Avery directs from a screenplay by Billy Ray and Mark L Smith; the production comes from Abrams’ Bad Robot and Paramount.
PI has listings for key UK hires including the production designer, UPM and production co-ordinator.
Overlord is one of several inward investment projects currently filming in the UK – or with a production base here - including Mary Poppins Returns, Tomb Raider, the untitled Jurassic World sequel, Mission: Impossible 6 and the Han Solo feature.
Details of these and around 230 other film and TV projects currently filming can be found on Production Intelligence. Non-subscribers can click here to request a free online demo.
