Support groups

There’s a lot to be said for being with other people who know what you’re going through. Our range of peer groups provide mutual support, friendship and fun.

Families supporting each other

Caring for a child with a life-shortening condition or living with the loss of your child can feel very lonely. It can seem like no one else understands what you’re dealing with and it can feel difficult to talk about how you feel with friends and family.

That’s why we bring families together in a range of support groups, where you’ll find people who know what you’re going through, because they’re going through it too. Our support groups meet regularly and are spaces to share and offload but also to have a laugh and feel normal.

We have informal groups that all our families can attend and more structured support specifically for bereaved mums and dads.

How we can help

Spice & sparkle

An informal adult-only group where families cook and share meals together at Russell House.

Walking group

Each month families meet in a different park in West Yorkshire to enjoy some fresh air and gentle exercise together.

Rainbow groups

New or pregnant mums who have previously lost a baby meet to support each other and share the highs and lows of having a baby following loss.

Structured peer support

Safe spaces for bereaved mums and dads to explore thoughts and feelings, help build resilience and support networks.

Activities and events

Families also get together at our activities and events, like our rock choir, monthly coffee mornings, parties, craft sessions, and activities for brothers and sisters.

Sibling support group

Our support group for brothers and sisters meets monthly for activity sessions and day trips. A chance to have some fun with others going through similar things.

Get the support your family needs

We’ve made it easy to find out whether your family is eligible for our care and what support is available to you. And it’s easy to refer your family to us, when you’re ready.
