Willow Smith is releasing a deluxe version of her latest album Empathogen, but she’s surprisingly casual about the three new songs and accompanying visuals that will be available Friday.
“I’m just excited for the homies to watch me be crazy, because I love doing that,” Smith tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I love being crazy for other people’s enjoyment.”
What may seem crazy to others is unparalleled commitment on the part of Smith who reveals while working on the original album, “I pretty much locked myself in my house for six months and only practiced music for hours and hours a day.”
The dedication to refining her technical skills as a musician paid off. Her sixth album, released on May 3 and featuring collaborations with Jon Batiste and St. Vincent, hit the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and was bolstered by an NPR Tiny Desk concert,...

Willow Smith's "b i g f e e l i n g s" is the final song on her new album, "empathogen." And, according to Smith, it's "the most complex piece of music I've created in my entire career."
"Hopefully not the last - definitely not the last," she qualifies. "But this one is pretty awesome."
The entire record - the 24-year-old's sixth solo studio album - represents a sonic departure. Ahead of its release on May 3, Smith was a little nervous about putting it out into the world. But mostly, she was energized.
"I'm a risk-taker, what can I say?"
"This whole album is different from anything I've done, and I'm just so excited for people to hear it," she says. "You always take a little bit of a risk, but I'm a risk-taker, what can I say?"

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have gone through so much together over the years, from breakup rumors to cheating allegations. Despite all of the speculation about their relationship, the actors have managed to remain married for over two decades. Since they've been together for so long, fans were shocked to learn that the pair quietly separated in 2016.
On Oct. 11, "Today" shared a clip from Jada's NBC News special, in which she revealed that she and Will have "been living separate lives" for the past seven years, though they haven't legally divorced. It may be time for Jada Pinkett Smith to bring herself back to the red table.
For years now, the actress and personality — known for movies like “Set It Off” and “Girls Trip,” as well as for her high-profile marriage to Will Smith and family life — has traded on a sort of tactical openness. “Red Table Talk,” a streaming series in which she, her daughter Willow Smith, and her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris discuss personal matters, has, from its 2018 launch to its leaving Facebook Watch and going on hiatus earlier this year, helped rebrand a performer already recognized for her flair and edge as a say-almost-everything matriarch. And the vivid public life of Will Smith — including his dishy 2021 memoir “Will” and his turbulent 2022 Oscar night — has kept Jada’s name in headlines, too.
Now, though, Pinkett Smith seeks to thread a very narrow needle: Correcting a record that she has helped...

NBC wasted no time getting into the “why” of its exclusive sit-down interview with the polarizing Jada Pinkett Smith for Jada’s Story: An NBC News Special With Hoda Kotb.
The broadcast began with an image of Pinkett Smith’s husband, Will Smith, hitting Chris Rock during the 2022 Oscars and Pinkett Smith voicing her disbelief in that moment with, “I looked at Will and I said, ‘You hit Chris,’” with her physically appearing on the screen while speaking the words. “Like, ‘You actually hit Chris,’ and he’s like, ‘Yeah.’”
More images of the slap heard around the world played before teasing the previously shared bombshells that she and Smith have lived separate lives since 2016 and that Chris Rock asked her out. When the special finally kicks off, Kotb is with Pinkett Smith at her old high school, Baltimore School for the Arts. But it’s not long before another famous man in her life,...

Hollywood star Will Smith admitted that he regrets pushing Willow Smith and Jaden Smith to fame at such a young age because “nobody in (his) family was happy.” The 54-year-old made the honest confession when appearing on Kevin Hart’s Peacock talk show ‘Hart to Hart’, reports aceshowbiz.com.
The actor first said, “2010 was like the greatest year as an artist, as a parent. ‘Karate Kid’ came out in June, ‘Whip My Hair’ came out in October. I’m building this dream of a family I’ve had in my mind. ‘I’m going to do it better than my father did it’.”

“Pretty much 2010 to 2012 I had achieved everything I had ever dreamed.

Will Smith is largely seen as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. But His wife Jada Pinkett Smith has been a star in her own right, having starred in many hit films and television shows. Still, Pinkett preferred Smith to be the only megastar in the family.
Jada Pinkett Smith felt it might have been better for her family if there was only 1 megastar Jada Pinkett Smith | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Pinkett and Smith have been two of Hollywood’s most famous power couples for decades now. Introducing two more children into their family, however, would come with a few challenges. Especially when the pair were already busy actors.
But Pinkett felt that their different levels of star-power might have made it easier on them to raise their children. As one of cinema’s leading men, Smith was usually in high demand, tapped for several film projects. Pinkett was career-oriented as well.

Janelle Monáe is feeling particularly free about her music and sexuality these days, but that's not the only thing the "Lipstick Lover" singer is being open about. In their 2023 Rolling Stone cover story, published on May 22, Monáe got real about their views around the recreational use of drugs, particularly how they "grew up fearful of marijuana" because of their parents.
"I had parents who were addicts," she explained to the publication, referring to her father, who was formerly addicted to crack-cocaine. "They would always say, 'Weed is the gateway drug to being a crackhead,' and I grew up with that in my mind and heart."
Monáe also revealed that their newfound attraction to weed was triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic, offering them a way to manage their anxiety after having "anxiety attacks" while recording their 2018 "Dirty Computer" album. "I was like, 'We're in the middle of a pandemic,'" the singer said.

Jada Pinkett Smith is hopeful that her long-running Facebook Watch show, "Red Table Talk," isn't coming to an end. Pinkett Smith; her daughter, Willow Smith; and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, have hosted the show since 2018, and the series has platformed some internet-breaking conversations with celebrities since then. Lefevre joined Meta (then called Facebook) in 2017, after serving as MTV’s head of scripted development. At Meta, Lefevre reported to Ricky Van Veen, VP of creative strategy.
Lefevre’s exit comes as Meta is cutting 10,000 jobs across the company, coming after it laid off 11,000 staffers at the end of 2022. On Wednesday, Meta announced first-quarter 2023 earnings that beat Wall Street expectations, as its revenue grew 3% for the period.

Exclusive: Mina Lefevre, who was Head of Development and Programming at Meta, is departing Facebook’s parent company.
Lefevre, who was formerly EVP and Head of Scripted at MTV, is exiting as part of the latest round of layoffs at the Mark Zuckerberg-run company, which has seen more than 20,000 employees leave.

None of the remaining Fb Watch Originals, most notably Red Table Talk, are coming back for new seasons as the company is getting out of that business, shifting its focus on creating VR experiences in Meta Horizon Worlds that can also be deployed across Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. Fb Watch remains as video player for such content, while members of Lefevre’s team,...
