Javier Bardem in ‘No Country for Old Men.’ Christoph Waltz in ‘Inglorious Basterds.’ Malcolm McDowell in ‘A Clockwork Orange.’ Allison Williams in ‘Get Out.’ It seems that when it comes to portraying sinister characters on screen, a love of milk is a common trait. Why do so many movie and TV villains love to drink milk?
Perhaps it’s the contrast with the wholesome associations people have with milk, symbolic of youth and innocence. According to Antony Starr, who plays the deliciously depraved Homelander on "The Boys," the character's milk obsession started in Season 1 as a "rivalry” with the baby of Madelyn Stillwell, his handler/lover/mother played by Elisabeth Shue. In an interview with IMDb, Starr explained it was “jealous, Oedipal thing."
The actor revealed that the milk gags became a running bit, with the writers incorporating more dairy-themed moments as the show progressed. After the first memorable milk-drinking scene, the actor emailed showrunner Eric Kripke to say “we’ve got to do more milk.” “He was like, 'Way ahead of you. I'm writing milk into everything from here on,'" Starr said.
The cast—including Chace Crawford, Erin Moriarty, Claudia Doumit, Karen Fukuhara, Susan Heyward, Colby Minifie, and Valorie Curry—also weighed in on which scene they think the show should be known for. Crawford—who plays troubled supe The Deep—cited the truly diabolical airplane sequence from Season 1, in which Homelander decides he’s unable to save an airplane full of passengers. “That was one of my favorites for sure,” he said. “That sort of encompasses the world of the show.”
Watch the IMDb interview here.
The first three episodes of Season 4 dropped Thursday, June 12, with new episodes arriving weekly on Prime Video. Expect more milk jokes for Homelander, as "The Boys" tap into the delightfully demented trope of onscreen villains’ dairy habits.

Annecy, France — Five-time Emmy Award winner Genndy Tartakovsky, creator of “Samurai Jack” and “Primal,” is developing “Safari Heist,” a 10-episode comedic robbery that will have the feel of a musical, Tartakovsky said.
The robbers are three brother frogs, control freak James, neurotic Issac, and little George, who thinks he’s brilliant but is actually not. Estranged, they meet up at their father’s funeral, where they are informed that they will only inherit his fortune if they pull off a bank heist, stealing the contents of a bank’s vault numbered 881.
Trouble comes when all three cut side deals for help in the form of a Japanese yakuza tiger, a Russian mafia hippo and an Italian gorilla mobster. The police are wunderbeasts.
Every episode is one shot, but they will not be told in chronological order. The whole has an Edm score, said their creator.

When Season 3 of “Hacks” premiered at the beginning of May, reaching that moment had been hard won.
Nearly two years had passed since its second season concluded; real life simply got in the way. The writers strike and the actors strikes caused delays, but even before that — and on a more serious, human note — the show’s two-time Emmy-winning star Jean Smart had emergency heart surgery.
Nevertheless, she persisted. “Hacks” — the creation of Jen Statsky, Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs — roared back for its third season, perhaps its best yet.

The View went live mere minutes after the news dropped that the Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit that would’ve affected the Food and Drug Administration’s treatment of the abortion pill being mailed to patients without doctor visits. So of course the cohosts had to address the issue at the tippy top of the hour in their “hot topics” segment. Joy Behar, for one, called it “good news about the Supreme Court for a change” and thought it was “unbelievable” that the decision was unanimous. However, Sunny Hostin quickly rebutted that it didn’t make her feel better because “the states are still going to try and take [those rights] away anyway.” Ana Navarro had perhaps the snarkiest comment of the moment, saying, “I just have to wonder what flag Mrs. Alito is going to fly today!” in reference to the recent controversy over Justice Alito’s political flags at his home.

Even one of TV’s most fearsome hosts can’t help but get a little antsy when surrounded by bees. In a new episode of his Nat Geo series Uncharted, Gordon Ramsay, he of countless Kitchen Nightmares and profanity-laden tirades, travels to Cuba to learn more about the island nation’s “hidden cuisine,” including sampling the absolute freshest of honey. To find it, he has to go straight to the source — and that’s when things have the potential to get prickly.
In the June 16 episode, “Cuba’s Savory Secrets,” Ramsay goes on a tour of a bee farm as part of his exploration of the country and its cuisine. As you’ll see in this exclusive clip, the man that can shut down a bustling kitchen with a lone order is a little less commanding when faced with the prospect of a bunch of honeybees.
