Bengaluru: An 11-year-old boy has succumbed to the dengue fever in the city as infections continue to see an increase in Karnataka. The deceased boy is identified as Gagan, a resident of Anjanapura in the outskirts of Bengaluru. Officials said Gagan was being treated for dengue fever for a few days at a private hospital and he succumbed to the deadly virus on Friday late night.
According to a report in ANI, the Karnataka government, considering the rising cases of dengue, has capped the prices of dengue testing at Rs 600. The state has witnessed a rise of 42 per cent in dengue cases as compared to last year. A total of 6,187 positive cases of dengue have been detected in the state and six persons have died from the infection from January to July 2.
Speaking exclusively to Times Now, Congress leader Nagaraj Yadav said the state government is taking all necessary steps to manage the situation. "People need to co-operate with govt to ensure they keep surroundings clean, hospitals are well equipped to handle the situation, Bjp has no issue and hence politicise everything," he added.
Addressing a press conference, BJP MP CN Manjunath has sought that along with declaring a medical emergency, the state government must also form a task force and take experts' opinion for handling the situation.
"Dengue is detected more among children and it is increasing every day. Six to seven deaths have been reported so far and more than 7,000 active dengue cases are reported in the state. Every day 600 to 700 dengue cases are reported in the state," he said.
"More cases are reported in Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru and Hassan. A doctor has succumbed to dengue fever," Manjunath added.
"Once complications start in dengue, death is 99 per cent as there is no treatment. Controlling dengue is nothing but controlling mosquitoes. The medicines would be administered for fever and blood pressure," he further added, quoted ANI.
