Actor Kamal Haasan, who will be seen portraying once again the iconic character of Senapathy in director Shankar's Indian 2, on Saturday explained why he had named the character as the most difficult and most challenging role he had played until now.
The character, which is considered one of the iconic roles in Indian cinema, required the actor to wear prosthetic make up of the most advanced kind. Director Shankar had disclosed that it would take at least three hours to put on this make up and that it would last only a certain number of hours. Also, the make up would not allow the artiste to move their jaws freely, which meant that Kamal Haasan would not be able to eat any solid food during the time he had the make up on. He could only consume liquid foods with the help of a straw.
But more than all this, Kamal Haasan on Saturday explained in detail why he found working on Senapathy this time around to be the most challenging experience ever.

Kamal On How Accidents, Covid Made It Immensely Difficult

During an interaction with the media, the actor said, “Every character brings challenges. We look to overcome them and then proceed. (When we are working on a film) We do not know what will give us success. All of us wish for success -- be it the director or me -- but we are tense about the direction in which we are heading. Some small indicators lessen that anxiety. For instance, the smile on the director's face or the manner in which he enthusiastically rises to shake my hand after a shot or your co-actors paying you a compliment and saying they were watching awe-struck as we performed."
“Similarly, there have been the indicators of the exact opposite as well. For instance, accidents and Covid. Hale and hearty colleagues who worked alongside us and from whom, we took leave, saying 'we'll meet tomorrow', never returned. So many such developments have never happened to me in just one film. Accidents, unexpected deaths and so many other things.”
“Beyond all that if we are happy it is because of the belief that we are going to get recognition for all the hard work we have put in,” Kamal Haasan said.
