Hyderabad: The bodies of a father-daughter duo were found on railway tracks near Enugonda railway station in Mahabubnagar district in Telangana late Monday night. A probe into the incident revealed that a heated argument had erupted at their residence over undisclosed family matters on Monday after which the father left the house.
The father was distressed by the situation and stormed out of the house declaring that he no longer wished to live. Despite his daughter's attempts to persuade his father to not storm out, he didn’t listen, and she went after him. The police have identified the deceased as Shivanand, 50-years-old and Kalleti Chandana 20-year-old, his daughter.
Authorities speculate that Shivanand may have walked directly to the railway tracks which are situated approximate 500 meters from their home, with Chandana following his father closely behind. They also suspected that she may have attempted to prevent him from approaching an oncoming train, but tragically both of them were hit by the same train and died instantly at the scene, a TOI report said.
Upon getting the alert by the railway officials, the railway police rushed to the scene to conduct an investigation. Syed Akbar, the sub-Inspector of the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Mahbubnagar said that a case has been registered under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on a complaint lodged by local railway officials. The reason for the Shivanand’s suicide and his daughter’s death is under investigation.
Shivanand was employed as a driver, while Chandana worked as a lab technician at a private hospital in Mahbubnagar, Times of India report added.
