Introduction & The Client

According to New York-based analysis company Market Research Future, the platform consolidation market size is expected to reach $165.5 billion by 2026, growing at a market growth of 27% CAGR. The key driver of this growth is the need for scalability and centralization.

Headquartered and established in 1988 in Manila, Philippines, our client, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) is in the business of port development, management and operations.  ICTSI’s portfolio of terminals and projects are located in developed and emerging market economies in the Asia Pacific, the Americas, and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.  Independent with no shipping or consignee-related interests, ICTSI works and transacts transparently with all stakeholders of the supply chain. ICTSI continues to receive global acclaim for its public-private partnerships, which are focused on sustainable development, and supported by corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Our client wanted to consolidate different sites onto a single platform to streamline workflows, reduce operational costs, minimize developer dependency while onboarding new sites. They also wanted to simplify and streamline data storage across their terminals.

Why Drupal was chosen:

Using Drupal, Vuejs and AWS Cloud to scale and increase productivity

Drupal checked all the boxes for ICTSI—scalability, multi-site support, easy integration, and quick new-site onboarding with reduced developer dependency.

Describe the project (goals, requirements and outcome):

ICTSI wanted to:

  • Consolidate 30+ websites onto a single platform
  • Improve communication between geographically dispersed tech teams
  • Reduce time-to-market for new sites and streamline content management for multilingual websites

  • Enabling modules to suit ICTSI’s business requirements to ensure faster onboarding.
  • Integrating the Philippines Stock Exchange (PSE) real-time ticker through a plugin, on the global site.
  • Reducing the cost of hosting, managing, and maintaining websites.
  • Revamping ICTSI’s content strategy that ensured site-wise uniformity and editorial efficiency.

Outcome:

We enabled the client to drive scalability and platform consolidation within the stipulated timeline. Notable benefits include:

  • Rapid roll-out of new websites and centralized editorial control and reduced developer dependence
