- Nicole Garcia was born on April 22, 1946 in Oran, France [now Algeria]. She is an actress and writer, known for Mal de pierres (2016), Mon oncle d'Amérique (1980) and Betty Fisher et autres histoires (2001).
- Was the inspiration for an character in "L'Inceste" (1999), a novel by Christine Angot.
- She directed 3 full length feature films that were screened in competition at the Cannes Film Festival: L'adversaire (2002), Selon Charlie (2006) and Mal de pierres (2016). None of these movies received a single award from the jury.
- Studied drama at the CNSAD (Conservatoire National supérieur d'art dramatique - Paris) and, from there went on to study law at university after several minor film parts.
- Has two literary roles in common with Emmanuelle Riva: Thérese Desqueyroux, which Riva portrayed in the cinematic feature Thérèse Desqueyroux (1962) and its TV sequel La fin de la nuit (1966) (and she took on in La fin de la nuit (2015), a more recent TV adaptation of the second novel) and Barny in an episode of La grande collection (1990), a role previously played by Riva in Léon Morin, prêtre (1961). The two actresses worked together in Tu honoreras ta mère et ta mère (2012).
