Stalin article lead sentence

[edit]

You seem to be trying to put Stalin's nationality in to more prominence in his article. Whether or not it deserves more prominence I really don't know. I've barely even scratched the surface on actually reading the article. If you want to do this I recommended you try to add it to the introductory paragraphs. Give a proposal for it and explain why you believe it is important to explain his birthplace here.

I cannot stress enough the importance of explain why you made the changes. What to include in the introduction is very subjective subject the only way wikipedian can come to consensus about it is through discussion. You need not discuss every change so much. For example if you wanted to add a source or correct a spelling mistake these tend not to be controversial descions. But the article on Stalin is highly controversial you are trying to make a subjective change to the most important part of the article. How can I edit your post for the grammatical and wordiness problem I perceive if I do not understand why you made that edit.

The first sentence of a Wikipedia article is the most important sentence. It is attempts to summarize the entire article. This is often impossible to do but, we try our best. For example the current lead sentence leaves out all the people Stalin had killed which is a very important part of the article. When we go to summarize this article I would not put it in the very first sentence. This is really not the most important point.meitme (talk) 21:04, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

April 2011

[edit]

Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Elvis Presley. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Please do not use blogs or low-quality sources to support an extraordinary claim. Binksternet (talk) 00:19, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See Talk:Joseph Stalin#re lead + mention of birthplace regarding the inclusion of his birthplace at the top of the article. If you can make a case for doing so, fine, but per WP:BRD you are not supposed to revert a revert without discussion and making your case. Herostratus (talk) 16:54, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Warning: edit warring

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.

You have failed to convince anyone on the Elvis Presley Talk page that your position is valid. Your many errors and misconceptions have been carefully detailed. You are not going to get your way by edit warring--in this case, you are almost certainly not going to get your way at all, because your research is weak and repeating baseless, unsourced claims over and over again does not make them true. Furthermore, if you continue to edit war over the matter while ignoring what more experienced editors are trying to explain to you, you will definitely be blocked and won't be able to contribute to Wikipedia at all. The choice is yours. DocKino (talk) 16:51, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now 3 reverts in 20 hours, 4 reverts in 25 hours. If you revert again on Elvis Presley, you will be blocked.—DCGeist (talk) 17:28, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Elvis Presley

[edit]

It is interesting that DocKino and DCGeist (who seem to be one and the same person) are threatening you with a block. As has been shown elsewhere, some few Wikipedians seem to have "occupied" the Elvis article, deleting all contributions that are not in line with their personal opinion. As for your argument on the Elvis talk page, I have provided three reliable sources in support of your opinion. But you can see what has happened on the talk page... Final warning, Elvis Presley

[edit]

This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Elvis Presley, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Your edits to Elvis Presley concerning the race of family members have constituted as an edit-war as you have broke the three-revert rule several times; this therefore constitutes vandalism.Rsteilberg talk 04:34, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator intervention against vandalism

[edit]

You may like to know that there has been a report on you at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. you can read both the report and my response to it here if you wish to. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:41, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your name has been mentioned in connection with a sockpuppetry case. Please refer to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/GeordieWikiEditor for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to cases before editing the evidence page. O Fenian (talk) 08:06, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for repeated sockpuppetry. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Favonian (talk) 11:29, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
