Former “General Hospital” head writer Robert Guza, Jr. and former “All My Children” executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers have signed on as executive producers of “The Gates,” reports Soap Hub.
Created by veteran soap writer Michele Val Jean, who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer, “The Gates,” daytime’s newest daily drama series, is set to premiere in January 2025 on CBS. It tells the story of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community.
Additional executive producers for “The Gates” include Sheila Duckworth, Kimberly Doebereiner, Leon T. Russell and Derrick Johnson. Thus, the show is one of only two daytime dramas with more than one executive producer (“Days of our Lives” being the other) and the only daytime series with seven executive producers overall.

The thing I miss the most about the heyday of the ’80s slasher movie is that there were so many of them that eventually filmmakers had to start finding ways to shake up the formula and continually introduce weirder and weirder stuff. That's not to say that all of these movies were necessarily "good," but that they managed to be distinctive within a sub-genre known for its sameness. For as good as horror is today—and we are in a really good place for horror—there is no one corner of the genre that is so prevalent as the slasher once was that inspires various permutations. We don't get a Sleepaway Camp or a Blood Rage much anymore. The reasons for this are ultimately positive and encouraging—the current crop of horror films are so vastly different from one another that we avoid this phenomenon—but it still makes me...

Bad news for Avan Jogia and his fans. The former Nickelodeon star was making splashes in the TV world with a young adult mystery show Twisted. It followed the life of his character who had a past that haunted him. It held a lot of promise and seemed to do decent in ratings. However, when it ended in April Chuck Pratt Jr promised that the show had a lot more stories even though the finale ended things. Now we know that it was a series finale instead of a season one. Luckily Avan has landed a new role in Spike TV’s Tut.
We’re sad that the show was cancelled. It was interesting and different from others. Avan showed a very different side to his acting range that also proved he didn’t need a comedy to succeed. However, it wasn’t enough to keep ABC Family happy with it.

New Lying Game Season 3 confirmation delayed til July 2013 over Indecisiveness. Hey, there Lying Game peeps. It's been a while, and I know you guys are yearning to know if the show will continue. Unfortunately,we won't be able to give you an answer for that just yet as ABC Family is still currently trying to make up their minds on if they want a season 3 or not. They're actually looking to wait until they see how their summer shows do before they make a decision,so we're hearing that a July 2013 date will be a good time frame for definite confirmation, though the network will actually have to make a decision before that time. According to a recent report from Deadline, ABC Family has asked Lying Game producer ,Warner Horizon, to extend the options on the cast until they see how the summer shows do,so their decision is on...

It’s been more than a month since The Lying Game aired its second season finale and six months since the series wrapped production. But ABC Family is yet to make a decision on the future of the show based of Sara Shepard’s books. Complicating things is the fact that the options on the cast are up this week. I hear ABC Family asked The Lying Game producer Warner Horizon to extend the options on cast as the cable network wants to see how its summer series launch before making a decision on The Lying Game. That is easier said than done as the extension process involves a slew of actors with virtually no assurances that the extra hold will lead to a renewal. I hear all actors passed on Warner Horizon’s initial offer. I hear the efforts focused on the leads, with Alexandra Chando, now signed, and Blair Redford,...

Which guy will Emma choose to be with? Watch HollywoodLife.com’s exclusive first look at the spring finale and weigh in!

Plus, the police find a body! Who killed Theresa?
Does Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) have any allies left? Because after watching the March 5 episode of The Lying Game, I’m thinking she might finally be all alone in her plans to win back Ted (Andy Buckley). Not only did Sutton (Alexandra Chando) officially move over to the side of good, but Thayer (Christian Alexander) also stopped accusing his dad — for once — and considered that Becky might actually be behind Derek and Theresa’s deaths. And we all know there’s no tougher nut to crack than Thayer.
Even Jordan (Ryan Rottman) is now in on the twins’ secret, thanks to Mads (Alice Greczyn) deciding her step-brother could be a good asset — and not just a good ass. Thus the Lying Gang was born!

The show’s executive producer promises an ‘emotional’ roller coaster, with a cliffhanger that will leave you ‘screaming.’

Emma suspects Ted (Andy Buckley) could be connected to Theresa’s death, which certainly won’t sit will with Theresa’s almost-brother-in-law, Ethan (Blair Redford).

This year's Christmas in Washington includes a performance by Diana Ross.
With Christmas coming next week, I figure a good number of you will be traveling over the weekend. I hope those of you who are traveling manage to miss all the bad weather and arrive safely.
News
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Lying Game producer Chuck Pratt teases the death of a core character. Sadly, there's no mention of a reunion between Alexandra Chando and one of her former As the World Turns co-stars.
The CW is developing a drama based on the legend of Robin Hood, except this one would focus on a noblewoman who ends up joining the Merry Men while trying to rescue her wrongfully-imprisoned serf boyfriend.
Holy seven fourteen twenty-one thirty second delay, Batman! Bravo will be airing the second season premiere of Kathy live. She'll be joined by Liza Minnelli and Jane Lynch.
