Throughout his career, Ken has undergone four significant career transformations, demonstrating a resilient spirit and a willingness to roll up his sleeves and start anew for the sake of personal and professional growth. His journey began as a videographer and editor at a local news station in Santa Barbara, CA before the 2008 housing crisis pushed him to transition to a production studio, Legend 3D in San Diego, where he climbed the ranks from a junior artist role to become a VFX supervisor; relocating to Toronto in the process to establish the studio's presence in Canada. At Legend 3D Ken worked with R&D teams, mentored artists as a celebrated manager, and contributed to the development of multiple pipeline improvements that positively impacted the studio. When faced with the closure of the Toronto office, he pivoted into marketing coordination, evolving into a video producer role in less than a year with autoTRADER.ca.
Amid the COVID-19 layoffs in 2020 Ken experienced several new challenges. He took that opportunity to proactively produce two video resume projects, showcasing his creativity and adaptability, and produced a 30min virtual concert for the AIDS 2020 virtual conference. New Years Eve 2021 Ken produced a COVID safe new years eve concert with and independent music label, Evolutionary Music Co-Operative that was live on YouTube. During In 2021, Ken co-founded a successful brand and restaurant business with his wife, Celia Muñoz Mares, achieving returns on investment within three months, all without any startup funding.
Ken's recent roles as a production coordinator at MPC and an Associate Production Manager at Digital Domain have provided him with invaluable experience on the production side of the industry. Despite the challenges posed by industry strikes, he earned recognition for his leadership and production management contributions.
