- Quotes
Orbot: [Folds out of his compressed state and sees the sunrise as Eggman lays depressed at his Eggmobile] Pleasant morning. Wouldn't you say, Doctor? You can simply begin your plans anew... Even if all your efforts this last time were utterly wasted. Even if it was a complete and utter humiliating loss. Even the most pathetic loser in all the world will surely have his chance to...
Dr. Ivo 'Eggman' Robotnik: [Finally gets fed up and gets up] OH SHUT UP!
[Tries to kick Orbot but falls over, Orbot giggles and runs away as Eggman chases him while throwing a tantrum]

Now let's move on to daytime sonic, Sonic in this game has some of the best levels in the entire series, the least memorable level from daytime sonic to me is empire city, as that area serves no purpose to the story and is very annoying run through. But the boost in this game is the only sonic game where the boost is perfect. SEGA has dumbed down the boost in recent sonic titles, to the point where the gameplay is "press square to win." In Unleashed though, you need to time your boost correctly or you will fly off the stage, hit a wall, or just run out when you actually need it. And there are sections where you need to have a little bit or you'll die. Not to mention this is the sonic title that created many gameplay aspects like the boost and 2.5D. I think why some sonic fans didn't like this game was because the hub worlds because they would get in the way of the gameplay. I think they add to the game with all the unique NPC's and shops you can buy things from. And if you rush through them you will never spend more than 2 minutes in the hub world, so I don't see how they were that much of a problem.
The biggest point of criticism I can make about this game would probably be the medal collecting, as you shouldn't have to collect secret objects in a game to progress through the hub worlds and I can understand why people find that annoying. I also want to criticize that a lot of the side content in the game is annoying and hard to keep track of if you want to complete it all. The side quests are always reused sections of main levels, and while the bonus levels are a really fun challenge added to the game, they provide no reward other than 1-3 medals or a couple bars of XP, which make them feel unrewarding.
I think Eggmanland is another overly hated level. Every time someone criticizes it, they say the exact same thing, "it's very long and very hard," PAUSE. But, if you don't absolutely super suck at the game like all these harsh critics, you can beat it in under 30 minutes. The criticism of "it's too hard," says absolutely nothing about the game and you're only admitting that you're bad at games.
The game also has lag and frame drops on both the PS3 and XBOX360 because SEGA overestimated the consoles of the time's processing power
In conclusion, Sonic Unleashed is Great game with only a few flaws and sluggish parts of the game that keep it from getting a higher score than an 8. The only thing holding this game back is the frame rate drops, boring side content, medal collecting, and poorly thought out puzzles. If they fixed those things, I think I could see myself giving it a 9/10. Maybe one day they'll port it to PC like everyone wants, but who knows.
