She made her name as the devil-may-care Samantha in Sex and the City, but her new CIA audio series tells a different story of female empowerment. She talks about life on screen, being childfree and finding love at the BBC
‘This could only happen on the radio,” Kim Cattrall says, from her home in Vancouver Island, of her new series Central Intelligence. “It would be much too expensive any other way.” She can say that again; the BBC Radio 4 podcast, with this incongruously glittering cast – Ed Harris also stars – tells the true story of the CIA, from its haphazard beginnings in the wreckage of postwar Europe, to 9/11, to the present day. Cattrall narrates as Eloise Page, nicknamed the “Iron Butterfly”, who became the first female station chief in 1978, but had been embedded in the agency since 1947, before it even had the name. “It was a time when women were treated either as a mum,...

Amazon MGM Studios has entered into a multi-year film partnership with Scott Stuber, the former head of film at Netflix. As part of the pact, the streamer and studio will finance and release movies from Stuber’s new production company under United Artists, a languishing label that once operated under the auspice of MGM. In its heyday, United Artists released movies like “The Pink Panther,” “Rocky” “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “Network” and the James Bond films. The agreement calls for Stuber and his soon-to-be launched company to produce several films annually. They will be released both theatrically and via Prime Video, Amazon’s streaming service.
Stuber’s new company will be based on Amazon MGM Studios’ Culver City lot. The pact is a first-look one, giving Amazon MGM Studios the initial crack at the projects Stuber develops. In addition, Stuber will be involved in all projects released by the new UA.

Kevin Hart is one of the most badass comedians of all time, never ceasing to leave fans in hysterics with his stand-up comedies and roasts. But there have been very few people who have successfully roasted him back in the most iconic way. That was until recently when the 40-year-old comedian cum actress Nikki Glaser made her entry onto that list.
Kevin Hart. | Credit: @kevinhart4real/Ig.
At The Greatest Roast Of All Time: Tom Brady, Glaser went all in after turning up to brutally grill Hart. While her trolling him on his tiny height was one thing that had viewers in tears, the actress actually landed the final blow with an Nsfw joke about The Rock — one that even Hart couldn’t deny was absolutely savage!

While Kevin Hart‘s roasts have been incredibly enjoyable, Nikki Glaser recently surpassed all of those bars.

Ethnobotanist and mystic Terrance McKenna would be proud of Maisy Stella’s Elliot as she consumes a “heroic dose” of dried psilocybin mushroom tea in Megan Park’s My Old Ass trailer. To Elliot’s credit, she and her friends went to nature for their psychedelic trip, which is the recommended venue. What Elliot did not account for was meeting her older self (Aubrey Plaza), creating an existential nightmare and providing insight into her future. Science fiction teaches us never to interact with our future or past selves, lest we make a universe-imploding paradox. Still, Elliot’s story ignores all that and deepens the dos and don’ts of growing up strange.
Written and directed by Megan Park, My Old Ass is a coming-of-age comedy that follows Elliot (Maisy Stella), who encounters her 39-year-old self (Aubrey Plaza) after ingesting a steamy cup of mushroom tea. Somehow, the two keep in...

Brendan Fraser has been seeing a revival in his career after he won the Oscar for his role in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale. However, the actor will always be known for his role as Rick O’Connell in the horror adventure film The Mummy. The road to movie stardom for Dwayne Johnson is one of the unlikeliest in recent memory. A third-generation professional wrestler known the world over as “The Rock,” Johnson nabbed a supporting role in 2001’s “The Mummy Returns” and made such an impression that he starred in a successful stand-alone film, “The Scorpion King,” the very next year.
As his film career progressed, it became evident that, despite his success in action films, Johnson had a distinct flair for comedy, which he began to show off in such films as “Be Cool” (2005), “Central Intelligence” (2016), “Moana” (2016) and in his biggest-grossing film, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” (2017). One of the most recent was “Jungle Cruise” (2021) for Disney.
But it’s in high-concept action cinema that Johnson has found his greatest success, especially after hopping aboard the highly lucrative “Fast and Furious” franchise. He even got his own spin-off adventure, “Hobbs & Shaw” (2019), which...

Being the current representative of the Hollywood action hero community, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has always stayed an arm’s length away from the villainous WWE persona that gave him his first taste of recognition and fame. But after a lengthy sabbatical and a worse-for-wear stretch in Hollywood, his eventual return to the ring was perhaps inevitable, and as such, one of the lesser brow-raising points of his career.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the Final Boss [Credit: WWE]What did however seduce an already fascinated audience was the former People’s Champion’s resurrection as a heel, his readiness to brutality, and the sheer perverse enjoyment that he has (seemingly) derived from it. The Rock’s new persona, if not anything else, only proves how severely Hollywood messed up by exiling his evil façade in favor of a generic burly everyman hero obsessed with one-man rescue missions through tsunamis and earthquakes.

Video game movies have come a long way in the last several years, with the likes of "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," among others, making great strides. As a result, many Hollywood studios are turning to the gaming world in hopes of finding the next great big-screen franchise. To that end, Lionsgate is set to release "Borderlands" as one of this summer's big blockbusters and yes, it is based on an extremely popular series of games.
This one has been in the works for a long time and even finished filming several years ago. But it's finally arriving this year and fans will soon know if this will be the next step in the right direction for video game movies. We're here to give you all of the need-to-know details about the film so you can be ready when it hits theaters -- from who is...

At long last, the first trailer for the "Borderlands" movie has arrived. Directed by Eli Roth, this is the long-awaited adaptation of the very popular series of video games from Gearbox and 2K. Lionsgate has been getting the film ready behind the scenes for several years, and with the release date set for this summer, the studio has finally decided to show us what they've cooked up. Check it out for yourself above.
There is much to discuss here. For anyone who has played the games, Roth and the filmmakers certainly nailed a lot of the look. Claptrap (the robot character voiced by Jack Black) looks like himself. The world looks like the world of the games. It feels right in that sense. It also feels, cinematically, like a mix between Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" films and "Mad Max." Whether or not it's anywhere near as good as those...

Curb Your Enthusiasm returns to Max this month in what’s being called the show’s final season (for now). If you’re not ready for the Larry David-centric comedy series to end, you can binge all eleven of the show’s previous seasons on Max right now before hitting the new episodes.
Tokyo Vice will also be back in February for season 2. Stars Ansel Elgort, Ken Watanabe, Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Keller, Show Kasamatsu, and Ayumi Ito are joined by Kubozuka and Miki Maya this time around, as Jake Adelstein feels the danger closing in on him. Max also welcomes you to the premiere of the highly acclaimed (and highly depraved) Dicks: The Musical this month, as a couple of self-obsessed businessmen discover they’re identical twins and decided to bring their divorced parents back together.

Scott Stuber, the film chief at Netflix, is leaving the streaming service in March. He’ll (again) form his own company.

Scott Stuber is leaving Netflix. The chairman of Netflix film since 2017, he will be leaving in March to start his own media company.
This has been in the works for some time, as rumors were rampant he had a different philosophy than Netflix toppers, whose prime focus has always been to make premium movies to be consumed by streaming. Other streamers have evolved into a theatrical first window for many of their big budget films, as Apple did in securing traditional distributors to globally release films like Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon. While Netflix has acquired some posh theaters in qualifying cities like New York and Los Angeles, its business plan is mainly global streaming without the giant P&a spend needed for films to do big movie house grosses.
Stuber will stay to help the transition, and then Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria will oversee things until a permanent replacement is secured.

Kevin Hart has gotten far in life thanks to his natural comedic abilities. But earlier in his career, he wanted to get even further and tried to impress the same person who helped find Eddie Murphy. Hart, however, didn’t get the response he might’ve wanted after his performance.

Like many comedians, Eddie Murphy was one of the comics who the Lift star looked up to. Hart considered himself to be funny from a young age. He described himself as a class clown who got the comedy bug after performing stand-up on a whim. Although he was working as a shoe salesman then, Hart seemed to have found his calling.
“My energy was great. I made my co-workers smile all the time. And I was a good salesman.

Kevin Hart has proven himself to be a capable dramatic actor in his own right. And after Lift, Hart was even more eager to show audiences what he could do as a leading man.

Lift belongs in the category of some of Hart’s less comedic efforts. The actor plays the leader of a band of thieves in the Netflix feature, which was a role that kept the jokes to an absolute minimum. Speaking with Collider, Hart confided that playing a more grounded character was what attracted him to the project. It also fit the exciting new direction that the actor is trying to take his career in.

Back in 2015, just as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was cementing his status as one of the world's biggest movie stars, the wrestler-turned-actor starred in the highly successful disaster flick "San Andreas." This was actually one of the movies that proved Johnson could help open a big blockbuster outside of a major franchise. He had earned the reputation of being "franchise Viagra" given what he was able to do for "Fast & Furious," "G.I. Joe," and other established properties.
"San Andreas" sees the infamous San Andreas Fault finally give, which triggers a massive magnitude 9 earthquake in California. Rescue helicopter pilot Raymond Gaines (Johnson) and his estranged wife must then make their way from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their daughter. It was a huge success, taking in $474 million worldwide against a $110 million budget. That being the case, Warner Bros. was very quick to announce a squeal back in early 2016. As Warner Bros. Discovery rethinks its streaming and licensing strategy, the studio has begun to license out several of its HBO and Max properties to outside streaming services. Among these shows is Ballers, the sports comedy drama starring and executive produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which ran for five seasons from 2015 to 2019. Now available to stream on Netflix, Ballers has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity thanks to the change in platforms, opening up the show to new, bigger audiences. Ballers has the distinction of being led by Johnson in his most nuanced and well-rounded role to date, providing a surprising amount of vulnerability for the global superstar.

It's been almost a year since "Black Adam" failed to deliver on its promise that "the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change." Or rather, it did change, just not in the way that star Dwayne Johnson had been banking on. With box office returns of $393 million, "Black Adam" fell short of the break-even point in its theatrical run. Worse, the movie was panned (read /Film's far from enthusiastic review here), making it yet another DC Universe movie that failed to launch with critics or audiences.
As a result, the planned sequel (featuring Black Adam fighting Henry Cavill's Superman) isn't seeing the light of day. Nor will it ever, given that DC films are now under the reign of James Gunn and Peter Safran, who don't have plans for Black Adam.

“Very cool full circle moment here with my long time buddy Brendan Fraser and his sons,” Johnson wrote in the Instagram post. “My very first film of my Hollywood career was The Mummy Returns, which Brendan was the star. Over 40 years after "History of the World Part I" hit theaters, a sequel is finally arriving in the form of a TV series on Hulu. Appropriately titled "History of the World Part II," the series follows in the footsteps of the legendary Mel Brooks by looking back at history with a contemporary comedic lens. Taking cues from the original movie, the series jumps around to different historical periods and events, such as the Biblical times of Jesus Christ, the unfolding of the Russian Revolution, the struggles of ending the Civil War, and many more. While some of the sketches are ongoing threads spread across eight episodes, there are also smaller bits involving Noah's Ark, Kublai Kahn, William Shakespeare, and Galileo.
What's great about "History of the World Part II" (watch the trailer here) is how it combines the classic style of Mel Brooks comedies with the contemporary humor of its creators.
