Mister Hyde is the evil alternate personality of Dr. Henry Jekyll, a British scientist from the 19th Century. Hyde was created when Dr. Jekyll ingested the serum he created to give himself control over his darker side.
In the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen's universe, Mister Hyde was a member of the Murray Group, a league of extraordinary individuals formed in 1898 by the British Empire to perform secret missions for the Crown. This version of the character calls itself Edward Hyde and possesses the ability to physically alter his physical body, developing additional musculature, superhuman strength and grotesque ape-like features.
Mister Hyde was created by Robert Louis Stevenson in the 1886 novel Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He was first adapted into DC Comics by Otto Binder and Jack Binder in Wow Comics #4 (1941).
