Here, I read "Santa Claus is coming to town" was written by John Frederick Coots - period. In the Wikipedia article on Haven Gillespie, I read the very same regarding Haven Gillespie.

None of either article mentions the other.

Apart from feeling half- if not disinformed twice (in fact, they co-wrote the song), I'd also like to know who did the lyrics and who the tune, or if both did words or music or everything together. Like one should get to know when visiting a source which requires contributions to be encyclopedical.
