Taluku Shamarao Venkannaiah (born 17 November 1947) is an Indian author and educator. He was named after his elder brother TS Venkannaiah (Talukina Subbanna Venkannaiah), a great name in Kannada literature. A resident of Sringeri he had served as principal in JCBM College of Sringeri, Chikmagalur Dist, Karnataka State, South India.

He was a Sanskrit Professor in JCBM college Sringeri. He wrote many books and was a chief editor of Magazines like Bhamathi (The JCBM College magazine which won awards for the many consecutive years during his time as editor), He served as Sringeri Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat President also. He has translated many works which include the Will Durant's greatest work the History of Greece volume 9.

Early life and education

Venkannaiah was born in Shimoga Shimoga district to a native Telugu family.He studied his primary and secondary education in Shimoga and later on moved to Mysore for higher studies. He completed his MA in Sanskrit in Mysore University and started his career as a high school teacher in Deshiya Vidyashala in the year 1963 and in the year 1965 he became a lecturer in JCBM College in Srigeri.

Later life

Career

Venkannaiah began his academic career as a lecturer of Sanskrit language at JCBM College of Sringeri (The Sharada Peetham). He served as Principal in the same college. He served as Kannada Sahitya Parishad President for Sringeri Tq. He translated many works and he was a chief editor for the college magazines like "Bhamathi", Monthly magazine "Sadguru's Blessings" of Harihara Pura Mat for many years.

Works and Message

Venkannaiah is a writer and a translator par excellence[citation needed]. He is against meaningless practices and rituals and he is for true understandings of spiritual texts. Venkannaiah's writings vary from Sanskrit works to English to Telugu works.
