Cycas sphaerica (also called, Cycas spherica[2]) is a plant mainly found in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The species was thought to be found in Odisha previously, but recent publication ([3]) claimed that the species is confined only to Andhra Pradesh. Two endemic species viz. Cycas orixensis and Cycas nayagarhensis are found in Odisha. Cycas sphaerica grow on high hills and dry lands and is listed on Appendix II of the CITES Appendices.[2] The Indian stingless bee, Tetragonula iridipennis feed on the sap of Cycas sphaerica.

Cycas sphaerica was first mentioned in 1814 by Roxburgh.[4]
