F-105 combat audio

Thank you for sharing the F-105 combat audio clip. This is an outstanding piece of history! - Emt147 Burninate! 21:16, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Two comments:

  1. There is about 10 minutes of silence at the end of the clip (it's 29 minutes long for 18 minutes of audtio)
  2. Could you explain some of the terminology used by the pilots and WSOs? I can help you put it into Wikipedia format.

Again, thank you for sharing this! - Emt147 Burninate! 21:27, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you get rid of the silent ten minutes? I couldn't find out how (Roxio Audio Editor).

Yes I have the entire commentary writtten out in .rtf. I HAVE FAILED TO UPLOAD IT BECAUSE WIKI WILL NOT ACCEPT .doc or .rtf and I don't know what else to do or how to associate it with the previous uploaded audio.

I labeled this one Weasel_1 because there are at least six more. It takes me many hours to sanitize them, removing all the barnyard talk that men in combat typically use. ---plumalley

One could even make an argument that all the "barnyard talk" should be left in for historical posterity.

Warriors are not aware of what they say in the heat of life-death battle. they can recognize their voices. I do not want them to be embarrassed in the peaceful freedom they have earned.

I will gladly help you format the transcript. You can copy-paste it into User:Emt147/Weasel1 (just click on "create the article link", paste the text into the box, and save, and I will format it) or email me the rtf or doc file at emt147 (at) yahoo (dot) com. - Emt147 Burninate! 01:58, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was unable to find the "create article link". I attached the annotation to an e-mail.--plumalley

WikiSource

As suggested, a more appropriate location for the transcript is the Wikisource. This is a sister project to Wikipedia whose purpose is collect original documents such as your transcript (Wikipedia focuses more on the encyclopedic entries). I have moved the audio file and the transcript to WikiSource here: s:Wild Weasel mission transcript and I will create links to it from all relevant pages. Let me know if I can help in any other way! - Emt147 Burninate! 04:54, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, the Wild Weasel mission Wikipedia page will now redirect to the Wild Weasel page which will have a link to the WikiSource document. Sorry about the bureaucracy! :) - Emt147 Burninate! 04:58, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
