This is a bad idea. For one thing, COM:FOP#Slovenia states that: Wikimedia Commons is not required to comply because it is hosted in the United States of America.
Think about what thus would mean. We would have to delete every image of a building build before.... well most buildings anyway as well as the pictures of all cultural monuments in Slovenia.
On a personal note - this is a stupid law which I quite enjoy breaking. That is all. --U5K0 (talk) 22:36, 23 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Images of all (officially proclaimed) cultural monuments don't have to be deleted at all, because it is not about copyright. They just have to be marked with {{SpomenikSVN}} so that the user is aware of the law. The deletion request is not based on this, but on Article 55 of Slovenian copyright and related rights act. As regards copyright, images must be free in the United States and in the source country. --Eleassar (t/p) 22:40, 23 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This would still mean that nearly all images of skylines would need to be deleted along with images of the vast majority of structures currently covered by wikipedia. This is ridiculous. --U5K0 (talk) 09:56, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Skylines are another case, covered by {{NoFoP-Slovenia}}. See for example File:Ljubljana from the Castle.JPG, marked with this template. You shouldn't crop these images to show only the copyrighted work though. --Eleassar (t/p) 10:00, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is not clear of the need not comply part applies only to the cultural monuments law or the entire section. Given that the monuments law essentially renders any reproduction of cult. mon. non-commercial, I see no reason why this restriction can be ignored but art. 55 can not. How are they different? --U5K0 (talk) 10:04, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As far as Wikimedia is concerned images may be freely uploaded despite non-copyright limitations.[1] Another thing is the liability of Slovenian reusers per Slovenian law. If you're not a Slovenian citizen, you may reuse photos freely. If you are from Slovenia, you have to be aware that this act on cultural heritage limits their use, therefore they're being marked with {{SpomenikSVN}}. See also Template talk:Soprintendenza. Mind that not all cultural heritage is protected as a cultural monument in Slovenia. --Eleassar (t/p) 11:03, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to me to be completely arbitrary. For this reason I'm against deleting the images in question. If this were to be applied in anything approaching a consistent fashion it would burn to the ground the collection of images about Slovenia. As always, I may be completely wrong. --U5K0 (talk) 12:01, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an unfounded fear. Slovenia has much more to offer than you imagine. --Eleassar (t/p) 23:05, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
