One-win teams

edit

Do they really belong in this list? By the title of the article, strictly speaking, they do not. Technically, teams that recorded a tie aren't "perfect" losing seasons either. One-win seasons are really bad, but they aren't "perfect" losing seasons. It would be akin to having a list of (true) perfect seasons and including one-loss teams. Maybe the article can be split to preserve the info, while at the same time keeping this article accurate... Any other thoughts? Strikehold (talk) 00:27, 27 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree - those need to be removed. StAnselm (talk) 09:34, 11 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Near-misses

edit

I can understand why one-win teams should be removed, but should near-misses (which are more common than actual winless seasons) not be at least discussed briefly.

Teams on track for a winless season say halfway through an Australian football or gridiron season attract attention from the public and press whether they ultimately win or not (as I can testify with Fremantle in 2001). Then, say Melbourne in 1981 or Swan Districts in 1968 who won one game earlier in the season after the siren are notable in this context because they were so lucky to escape the ignominy of not winning and may in reality have been as bad as a team that never won. luokehao (Contributions) 06:43, 31 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Why was the Overwatch League section removed?

edit

An anonymous user deleted the Overwatch League Shanghai Dragons' 40-loss season without an explanation. To prevent an edit war, I'd like to ask the community if they think it qualifies. I think it does since the OWL is a North American professional sports league. --User:Aabicus 23:06, 23 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

I don't really see why it would. Overwatch is not a sport. MorphineBear (talk) 04:46, 31 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
The question of whether esports are sports is not nearly that cut and dry. While there are still debates around the matter, there are numerous examples of esports being treated as sports by major sporting bodies or government officials. I'll create an additional 'Esports' section and put it there, which was how we solved this debate on the "Losing streak" page. --Aabicus (talk) 20:33, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
