Bot not exclusion compliant

edit

@Hawkeye7: FACBot posted this, despite the fact that the page contains {{nobots}}. Just letting you know FYI, as the BRFA says that it should be exclusion compliant.

All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 00:21, 25 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Fixed The bot does honour {{nobots}} but there was a loophole. I have corrected this, and it should not recur. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 23:42, 25 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
edit

Hey @Hawkeye7, just wanted to report something I came across at Green Bay Packers draft history. This list was promoted on March 24, 2024, and FACBot added the featured list template to a section of the article and not to the top of it (diff here). Hey man im josh (talk) 12:48, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Interesting. I will investigate. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 18:59, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
The problem is that the Bot has instructions to put the featured list template after the hatnotes, and there is a For hatnote at that point. Will need some more logic. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 05:57, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

About possible delays at FAC

edit

Hey Hawkeye7, the bot does not seem to have processed any FACs since May 24, even though multiple nominations have been promoted and archived. This one was archived manually a few days ago, but the others are still pending. Is this normal behavior, or does the bot need a drop of motor oil? (@FAC coordinators: Courtesy ping.) TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 19:21, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm. Looks like some changes on the grid. I have corrected the problem, and the FACBot is processing FACs again. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:03, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Appreciate it! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 20:22, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

About a janky talk page change

edit

@Hawkeye7: Hello again! In this edit, the bot mistakenly changed the |class= parameter of an unrelated template in a user's comment along with the banner shell class, which you may want to look into. Thanks! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 00:39, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Removing unfinished candidacy from talk page

edit

Is this intentional? I'm a bit confused as to what's going on with that edit. Hog Farm Talk 01:54, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Looks like a nomination was created but never posted on the candidates page. After a few days the bot removes them. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 11:31, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's not the case though - mine has been at the main FAC page since June 3. Hog Farm Talk 18:47, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
The log says:
00:06:28 Sun 09 Jun 2024 Battle of Plum Point Bend: no nomination
00:06:33 Sun 09 Jun 2024 Battle of Plum Point Bend: was nominated by Hog Farm at 2024-06-03 17:17:28
00:06:33 Sun 09 Jun 2024 Battle of Plum Point Bend: Updating the talk page
All I can think of is that there was a network problem, and the bot was unable to retrieve the FAC nomination page. The bot checks that the nomination was created over five days before, but cannot access results on previous days. For now, I am going to remove this check. Extra space with FLC tag

edit

Hi @Hawkeye7, just wanted to report that when List of accolades received by Joker (2019 film) was promoted and FACBot placed the featured list template, it also resulted in an extraneous space being added to the top of the article (see diff here). This also happened at the accolade lists for The Boy and the Heron, Interstellar and Hacksaw Ridge.

It could be an issue because {{Italic title}} is present. The space seems to get added with every promotion, but I haven't seen it show up in the actual text of any other type of featured list. Sgubaldo (talk) 13:37, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I have implemented a fix. Let's see how it goes. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 02:56, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Worked perfectly with List of accolades received by Inception, thank you again. Sgubaldo (talk) 00:29, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Great work on that list! So thank you too. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 00:53, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

How many times???

edit

To date the bot has updated Talk:John Savage (soldier) EIGHT (8) times in four days for one review. Is this normal behaviour? DuncanHill (talk) 12:11, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yikes! I will investigate. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 18:59, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
It is hard making bots foolproof when the fools are so clever. The {{featured article candidates}} template was placed inside the {{WikiProject banner shell}}, so the bot could not find it to remove it. I have corrected the talk and archive pages, and added a check for this situation, so it can be handled manually. If it recurs, I will instruct the Bot on the correct procedure for handling the situation. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:24, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Hawkeye. Gog the Mild (talk) 21:54, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. DuncanHill (talk) 22:12, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

New FL delegate

edit

Hey Hawkeye7, we just added a new FL delegate, Hey man im josh. The ancient closing instructions imply that the bot only closes nominations correctly if the template is placed on the nomination by a coordinator it recognizes. I don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, then there's a new authorized closer at FLC it should know about. Also, thanks for all this bot does for us! --PresN 14:57, 1 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

The Bot figures out who the coordinators are by looking in Template:@FLC. You updated this to add the new coordinator, so everything should be fine. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 18:57, 1 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

FACBot not promoting

edit

Hey Hawkeye7, looks like FACBot hasn't closed anything at FLC or FAC since the 22nd. Don't know about FAC, but I promoted 4 lists (example) on the 24th, and it's run a couple times since then without doing any closes. --PresN 00:48, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Actually, looking at the above, on the 22nd the @FLC and @FAC templates got modified slightly (diff); don't know if that's at all related. --PresN 00:49, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I mentioned this to Gog the Mild on my talk—both Tiger and Genghis Khan were promoted on the 25th but the bot hasn't done its stuff. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 00:54, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is an error. I will investigate. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 09:28, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
 Y Found the problem and corrected it. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 01:29, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Good Article list changes

edit

For size reasons, part of Wikipedia:Good articles/all had to be split off into Wikipedia:Good articles/all2. There was an HTML comment on the page noting that this bot used those transclusions, so it may need to be updated. Thanks! -- Beland (talk) 20:00, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Y The bot has been updated to handle this. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:05, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the quick fix! -- Beland (talk) 19:37, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
