Van Buren Malone (born July 1, 1970) is a former safety in the National Football League (NFL) and former defensive coordinator for the SMU Mustangs football team.[2] He played his entire career from 1994 to 1997 with the Detroit Lions, who drafted him in the second round of the 1994 NFL draft.[3] He was previously the cornerbacks coach for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in the 2010–11 season.
