Saman (Persian: سامان)[a] is a city in the Central District of Saman County, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4]

The city is populated by Turkic people with a Persian minority.[5]

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 14,777 in 3,961 households, when it was in the former Saman District of Shahrekord County.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 15,327 people in 4,558 households.[7] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 14,192 people in 4,554 households,[2] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Saman County. Saman was transferred to the new Central District as the county's capital.[4]
