[edit]

The article needs to provide some information on how the Free Church of Tonga (which still exists today) became the Free Wesleyan Church, as well as how the Church of Tonga came about. I know something of the history, but not enough to put together an article. I don't know if there are online sources that could help us out, either. I've entered "Church of Tonga" into Google but not found anything that would be useful here. 66.234.220.195 (talk) 07:07, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Considering Methodism/Wesleyans are pretty important in Tongan history/culture I agree this needs to be improved in various ways. I'm just not sure I know enough to get into it all, but if I get time I may.--T. Anthony (talk) 08:40, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the information on the union of the 2 Churches into the article, as well as the continuation of the Free Church under Jabez Watkin. The Church of Tonga need only be mentioned as its establishment has more to do with the Free Church than the Free Wesleyan Church. Toniseni (talk) 00:27, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

P.s. There are many more gems out there, in the form of scholarly theses. However, most, if not all, of the sources are written from the Wesleyan perspective. It will be rare to read a Free Church perspective. Toniseni (talk) 00:43, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
