Seems a little biased. Copied straight from a website perhaps?

Major error on this page

[edit]

Incorrectly states NFW began in Canada, yet also correctly states date of starting in the US in 1972. I will correct soon unless the page maintainer does so sooner... SmarterAlec (talk) 21:22, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Insignificant in western Canada and possibly other regions so mentions of Canada should probably be deleted

[edit]

Came from Scotland to Canada in 1979, and despite having a family shortly after arriving, have *never* heard of nor encountered mentions of this so-called "official" week in the last forty years in western Canada.

Perhaps it is a local event of note in certain parts of eastern Canada?

Some eastern Canadians are apt to label local events, people, and places of note in parts of the major population centres in eastern Canada, assuming they are "Canadian" and notable, despite being unnoticed, and largely unheard of, in other parts of the country, unless encountered locally during visits.

I have long had an interest in and educated myself on cultural aspects of calendars, including festivals, holidays, and observations around the world, especially in "western" and English-speaking countries.

I have developed and implemented practices, systems, and software, taking account of commodity and currency trading business hours and days, across the continent and the world, so I have a passing familiarity with a large variety of business practices and "social" events that can have unexpected impacts on systems, including support.

So I would expect to remember having heard something about "National Family Week" if it had reasonably widespread mentions in Canadian media in either 1985 or 2007, when we all watched national TV news broadcasts and read national newspapers, as well as online mentions from the late 1990s on.
