If you post a message here, I will reply here unless you explicitly ask me to do it on your talk page and please remember to sign your name at the end of your entry using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date.

Also please note the following:

The big orange "you have new messages" banner was created for a reason. If you want my attention, edit this page. If I want your attention, I will edit your page. If I just want to reply out of politeness, I'll do it here and save interrupting whatever you're doing... if you're interested in what I said, watch this page and find out. If I'm keen to see your response, I will be watching your talk page, or wherever I suspect you might post it. But if you have something to say you think I need to read, the big orange banner is kind of hard to miss...

NGO's

[edit]

Hi there.

I've dealt with several other people working on charity/NGO articles in the past few months, so I thought I'd share some of my advice/tips.

  • Following the principles of 'bestcoi', work on the article in your own user space - e.g. user:Dbiel/mypage. Add references for everything - make sure they are reliable and verifiable sources. The webpage of the charity is a primary source, so may be challenged. For example, if you say "The organisation has 3000 employees" with a reference to their own website, that information may later be removed. If you can source a national newspaper article that mentions the fact, it should be OK. For help with how to make good refs, see my own tips in User:Chzz/help/refs.
  • It's also worthwhile you reading through their talk pages, to see the issues they faced with their articles.
  • When you've got the article into shape, ask someone to look at it. You could ask a helper in IRC, or put a request on WP:FEED.

Sorry if this seems like a lot of info to take in, but from experience I've found it to be the best approach. There are lots of people in the Wikipedia community who will help you in any ways we can.

Best of luck; please leave me a message some time, and let me know how you're getting along. --  Chzz  ►

LA to FA 2022

Dear Dbiel,

You're invited to a zoom call, taking place on February 11, with the goal of improving the article on Los Angeles to Featured article status! I often find it daunting to approach the Big Subjects on my own—so if you, like me, want a time to sit down with fellow dedicated editors and tackle something important and complex, this is the zoom for you! I, unfortunately, have no way to transmit snacks over zoom; but I trust you to exercise good judgement and discretion in selecting snacks of your own. Hope to see you there—if you're interested, add your name here!
