[edit]Inherited from Old Catalan groc (also spelled groch, grog), from Latin crocum (“saffron”), neuter form of crocus (“crocus, saffron flower”), from Ancient Greek κρόκος (krókos). Compare Occitan cròc, Sardinian grogu.
