Taking an image from other wiki

I, Qëndrim Bllata, am a new user. First I’ve seen a video how to add image and tried my best to add an image according to video. But some of my image are deleted due to my mistake. My question is, if I take an image from other wiki (like file:Gōroser.png) or other websites, is it possible for me to use such images, if yes can you teach how to do it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qëndrim Bllata (talk • contribs) 21:35, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Goodmorning,

Just to be sure, if I create a new wiki page for an artist, youtuber or a model and I want to upload a photo, I had to upload it on your Commons and then make it available following new commons copyright rigths?

Thank you, Beatrice — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beatrice Sarnataro (talk • contribs) 08:39, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The short answer is yes. Ruslik (talk) 11:19, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Though "new commons copyright rigths" doesn't make a lot of sense. When you upload to Commons, you need to provide an appropriate license, granted by the copyright-holder of the work (whether that is you or someone else). - Jmabel ! talk 16:24, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Luisala142: Thank you for your question. Please do not attempt to reupload such screenshots, as they are copyrighted by their copyright owners, and Wikimedia Commons does not accept fair use. Also, please do not upload such screenshots to Portuguese Wikipedia, as Portuguese Wikipedia does not accept fair use either. Putting a photo in common when owner/uploader says it free to use?

Found a photo in deviant art that has the description with the disclaimer mentioning that says that the person who uploaded it is free to use.

How should this be approached? I know some public domain copyright tags and OTRS...

Photo in question.

Ominae (talk) 10:47, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ominae: I'm afraid that's far too vague to be sufficient for Commons. What we need is an actual free license that clearly allows modification and commercial use. LX (talk, contribs) 13:08, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Can it be done by OTRS? I've tried to do it with another photo from the past, but nothing worked out. Ominae (talk) 13:30, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If the actual holder of the copyright is willing to go through the OTRS process and grant a specific free license that allows derivative works and commercial use, yes, that would work. - Jmabel ! talk 16:31, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I’ll have to find a way to contact said person since I’m not sure if I can still log on to DA.

Actually, how easy is it to use OTRS? It was really confusing. Ominae (talk) 23:31, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ominae: Just tell the author send an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org (or any language-specific addresses) according to the instructions of OTRS. Then you just need to wait until an OTRS volunteer found the ticket and deal with it, regards.廣九直通車 (talk) 00:01, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
By the way I also remember that DeviantArt also allows the author to license files under free licenses, please refer to this. YOu may want to notify the author about this?廣九直通車 (talk) 00:01, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If the guy has photos in DA with CC 3.0 copyright permission, then sure. I’ll have to do it the OTRS way. Does this mean I upload the photo myself under OTRS? Ominae (talk) 00:28, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Once you know the permission is being sent, yes you can upload it yourself. Remember to tag it with {{subst:OP}} so that the process is given time to play out. - Jmabel ! talk 23:53, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

MediaWiki:Gadget-OldEdittools.js disabled by default but has to be enabled?

Not sure where to report this, but when not having MediaWiki:Gadget-OldEdittools.js enabled, some javascript immediately removes div#mw-content-text from the edit page, so I could not edit any pages without having JS disabled until I figured out I had to enable that gadget. I've already asked this on COM:VPT and not gotten any response, but I feel like that's kinda important because users affected by this who are unable to figure out how to work around that on their own can't even ask for help here. --Nenntmichruhigip (talk) 14:11, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nenntmichruhigip, could you identify the script causing this malfunction? Remember, you have m:User:Nenntmichruhigip/global.js, too. This image is digitally available online by Archives NZ via https://www.archway.archives.govt.nz. There is no copyright licencing information for this image in Archway, however Archives NZ's webpage https://archives.govt.nz/copyright states "In cases where we have already published archival material on the archives.govt.nz website or it is digitally available on Archway, it is covered by a Creative Commons BY 2.0 license, and you are welcome to use it without seeking permission." Note: this image is not available via Archives NZ's flickr page.

I am unsure what license tag to use. Do I need to contact OTRS for each image sourced from https://www.archway.archives.govt.nz?

Thanking you in advance.

@Jeff G.: , When you try to nominate a new candidate on COM:FSC, COM:FVC or COM:FPC you are asked to "Paste the text at the top of the Featured sound candidate list (just below the comment:LIST OF NOMINATIONS)".
when you click on Commons:Featured_sound_candidates#Adding_a_new_nomination, you are redirected to this page but as it asks you copy paste the text that is {{Commons:Featured sound candidates/File:Fight Back (Official Video) NEFFEX.webm}} in this case to Featured sound candidate list which in fact has a link to the page, but If it opens before saving the current page that troubles me, you need to copy-paste the url which is not User-Friendly. If I can get it to open in new tab that would be more user friendly IMHO. -- Eatcha (talk) 16:40, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Eatcha: The only code I know of on this wiki that can transclude a nomination to a list is in javascript.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 19:13, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G.: , But can I use JS for that page ? How can I edit it(JS) ? -- Eatcha (talk) 06:58, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Eatcha: I was specifically thinking of MediaWiki:Gadget-AjaxQuickDelete.js, but VFC can also append. You can develop js code in your userspace.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 04:11, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Adding image with free license

Hi,

I have just loaded the following image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Oxford_City_Stars.jpg

I am trying to load this with the same metadata (in terms of licensing) as the following: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hull_Pirates.png

Please can someone help me do this? Either with an update or removing and reloading.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brinded1 (talk • contribs) 21:13, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Brinded1: If I understand correctly, you are saying that you'd like to do a "fair use" upload on Commons because that is allowed on the English-language Wikipedia. That doesn't work. You can upload to the English-language Wikipedia under the rules of the English-language Wikipedia (which allow certain images on a fair-use basis) or to Commons under the rules of Commons (which don't allow that, and so this image is out of bounds for Commons). Jmabel ! talk 23:13, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Upload new file or new version?

Hey,
I have made a new version of the NATO flag from scratch. With (close to?) perfect shapes. And cleaner code than the one that's used here. Should I upload it as a separate file? Or should I upload a new version at the old page (File:Flag of NATO.svg)? I'd like to release it with {{cc-by-sa-4.0}}, but maybe that's not even allowed. Thanks for helping me 🙂 – GeMet [talk] 15:26, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@GeMet: you may ask at Commons:Graphics village pump whether your code is indeed an improvement to the original. If you are sure, feel free to overwrite it since it should be fine per COM:OVERWRITE.--Roy17 (talk) 16:48, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@GeMet: COM:OVERWRITE says that you may not change licensing when overwriting. Since File:Flag of NATO.svg is {{PD-US-not renewed}}, I don't think you should overwrite it if you intend the new version to be {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}}. It's possible that your new version won't have an independent copyright anyway, depending on whether the text of an SVG file constitutes a literary work where you live. --bjh21 (talk) 17:05, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading a Picture from Ballotpedia

I want to use https://s3.amazonaws.com/ballotpedia-api/storage/uploads/thumbs/200/300/crop/best/Allen_THomas_Photo1111.jpg, which is a photo currently being used on Ballotpedia for article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_North_Carolina%27s_3rd_congressional_district_special_election, but how do I know if Ballotpedia pictures are authorized for broad use? The picture previously used on Wikipedia shows in a google search, but it's blank on the article page. I'd like an actual picture of Allen Thomas to appear on his page and the election page. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ddoing (talk • contribs) 12:53, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

API "NeedToken" Error

Hello,

I don't know if it's the right place for this, but here I am. I am trying to upload images to Wikimedia Commons using MWBot, a NPM Package, however even the simplest example simply refuses to work, I get a "NeedToken" error.

const MWBot = require('mwbot');

let bot = new MWBot();

const APIURL = 'https://test.wikipedia.org/w/api.php'; const USERNAME = 'username@botname'; const PASSWORD = 'long random string';

bot.loginGetEditToken({

 apiUrl: APIURL,
 username: USERNAME,
 password: PASSWORD

})

 .then((response) => console.log('Response: %o', response))
 .catch(error => console.error('Login Error: %o', error));

And my error is simply : index.js:19 Login Error: Error: Could not login: NeedToken

This is running on a local server, and the only way to get the request to even work is to disable CORS using a chrome extension. Any ideas?

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KywimMedia (talk • contribs) 13:32, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cannot login through the wikimedia API (bot account)

Hello everyone, I'm currently working on the Open Yesterday project (more info here: https://github.com/oSoc19/Open-Yesterday-iD-Editor/), we want to add a feature that could permit to our users to directly upload their pictures about certain places onto wikimedia and then use the returned links to show them up on our application.

The thing is that i cannot figure out how to log into wikimedia with my bot account, we're using javascript, here's the code:

               let jsonLogInfo = JSON.parse(jsonInfo);
               let formData = new FormData();
               formData.append('action', 'login');
               formData.append('lgname', jsonLogInfo.loginInfo.lgname);
               formData.append('lgpassword', jsonLogInfo.loginInfo.lgpassword);
               formData.append('lgtoken', loginToken);
               formData.append('format', 'json');
               var options = {
                   method: 'POST',
                   body: formData,
                   cache: 'no-cache',
                   credentials: 'include'
               };
               fetch(apiURL, options)
               .then(response => response.json())
               .then(response => JSON.stringify(response))
               .catch(error => console.log(error));

I'm getting redirected to the API help webpage each time (the loginToken is generated with another request)

Can someone figure out what is going wrong ?

Thank you for your time,

Totally confused! Wikipedia? Wikimedia? What?!

Egads! After reading so many concerns on this page (including my own), I am even more confused. I must say though, that my issue(s) may be more simple than expected.

Way back in 2012 (my last edit before 2019), I had no clue there was "Wikimedia Commons". It appears that "somehow" while wanting to edit on a Wikipedia Article page... I ended up on Wikipedia Commons?! Is that possible? And that's giving me additional copyright violations which I'm not understanding, etc?

Also, probably explains why when I search a name/article it comes up on Wikipedia (sometimes) and other times on Wikimedia and doesn't go to the correct area?

Wow... I'm very challenged by these additional "tools" or extended "sites"!?

Help please... in laymen's English/terms. Thanks! ~~Redlippedlady — Preceding unsigned comment added by Redlippedlady (talk • contribs) 01:05, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Redlippedlady: Hi, Redlippedlady. Here are some basics.
The overall organization that manages/supports all these sites is the Wikimedia Foundation. Some of the various sites are:
  • Wikipedia: Wikipedia is the encyclopedia and contains mostly articles. I should say that the Wikipedias are the encyclopedias, plural, because there are many Wikipedias, each in a different language.
  • Wikimedia Commons (called "Wikimedia" because of the organization name) is a repository of files: images, audio, video, and maybe others I'm not thinking of. Files on Commons are under copyright licenses that allow them to be freely used in different ways. Any file uploaded here must be under such a license. The Wikipedias can easily link to these files to use them in articles. The files can also be used outside of Wikimedia sites if the terms of the relevant license(s) are followed.
  • Wiktionary: a dictionary, also in multiple languages like the Wikipedias
  • Wikidata: a database with basic data about nearly everything under the sun; the data can be retrieved by processes used on Wikimedia sites, and is useable for non-Wikimedia purposes as well
  • Meta-Wiki: coordination for all the various Wikimedia projects
There are others: you can see them listed on the main page of any Wikimedia site.
I hope that helps. --Auntof6 ([[User talk:Auntof6|Template:IntI :Talkpagelinktext]]) 01:26, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanking you again. ~~Redlippedlady — Preceding unsigned comment added by [[User:|]] ([[User talk:|talk]] • contribs) 03:43, 11 July 2019‎ Redlippedlady (UTC)

@Redlippedlady: I think you should start with writing a draft article at Draft:Jimmy Dale (composer) (← click the link, select "create" and just start writing). Please note that there is already an article about one Jimmy Dale (musician) (1935-2017), so I chose "Jimmy Dale (composer)" for your draft title. The advantage of the draft system at Wikipedia is that you can save and edit the page until it fits Wikipedia's requirements for notability and reliable sources, and only then will it get promoted to a live encyclopedic article. Creating a new biographical Wikipedia page directly as a live article may result in the page getting deleted because of questionable notability and bad sources for biographies of living people. That is why you would first want to write a draft version. Please be sure to also read the information on notability and biographies of living persons at Wikipedia. Once you think your page is ready for the collection of proper Wikipedia articles, please add a text string {{AFC submission}} at the very top of the page. It will then be reviewed by experienced editors. De728631 (talk) 19:17, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kai3952: Sure, just create Category:UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards, categorize it with other categories (such as Category:UNESCO, or any other more specific categories, also make sure that they are placed down as [[Category:<Category name>]]), than publish your edit. You may then categorize the category for Taipei Bao-an Temple with your Category:UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards, and make sure other categories of different heritage buildings are categorized properly. Enclosed please find a list of heritage buildings in Chinese, thank you.廣九直通車 (talk) 08:31, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

uploading my complete blog with public domain contents

Is there a way to upload the entire contents of my blog, https://www.arnoldtradecards.com as a whole to Wikimedia? The contents are all in the public domain. As there are well over 1,000 images on it, doing some sort of mass download would be preferable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JeffDiver (talk • contribs) 14:21, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • In terms of the images, I imagine it could be done on some sort of automated basis, but it looks like you really don't have much metadata about them, which means we'd end up with pretty "thin" descriptions in an automated upload. - Jmabel ! talk 16:20, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading a picture via the API

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to upload a picture via the API, i'm making my API POST request like this:

               let file = document.getElementById('files').files[0];
               var formData = new FormData();
               formData.append("action", "upload");
               formData.append('format', 'json');
               formData.append("filename", file.name);
               formData.append("file", file);
               formData.append("token", CSRFToken);
               formData.append('ignorewarning', 1);
               fetch(apiURL, {
                   method: 'POST',
                   headers: {
                       "Content-Type": "multipart/form-data"
                   },
                   credentials: 'include',
                   body: formData
                });

I think the problem is my file field: I don't know in which format i should upload it. Thanks in advance for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Byoa (talk • contribs) 14:50, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Add photo image for Andrew J. Hanson

I want to add photo for Andrew J. Hanson. I did not take this photo, but I have permission from the photographer to use it. Where do I add her permission - shown below: I hereby affirm that I, Ann Schertz. the creator of the photo of Andrew Hanson as shown above have the legal authority in my capacity to release the copyright of that work.

I acknowledge that by doing so anyone has the right to use the work, even in a commercial product or otherwise, and to modify it according to their needs, provided that they abide by the terms of the license and any other applicable laws.

I am aware that this agreement is not limited to Wikipedia or related sites.

I am aware that the copyright holder always retains ownership of the copyright as well as the right to be attributed in accordance e with the license chosen. Modifications others make to the work will not be claimed to have been made by the copyright holder.

I acknowledged that I cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the content may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.

Here is the link to the photo in question https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Andrew_J._Hanson.jpg

Uploading an Image - licencing

Hi, Trying to upload an updated image of Prof. Dan Ariely I've received the following message. We were given a usage permission by an employee of the copyrights' owner, Mrs Sigalit Ben Hayoun of Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization, and she's willing to send you the release-of-rights email, once the Image is online. Please, do tell how we can get it online. --Asafabir (talk) 16:22, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File:The "error" message I recieved trying to upload the image.jpg

  • @Jmabel: Thank you. As the picture above demonstrated, the system doesn't let me upload the image to Wikimedia Commons, and thus makes it impossible to meet one term in your template email. The term is pasting a link to the "exact URL of the file uploaded on Wikimedia Commons". Since this is technically impossible due to Wiki Commons' system's message, The permission email will have to include a link to: https://www.facebook.com/TAUalumni/photos/t.704919/1179943592165007/?type=3&theater. This is despite of what your template indicates - and it's the only possibility to act according to your guidance. Thus, I trust that the link to https://www.facebook.com/TAUalumni/photos/t.704919/1179943592165007/?type=3&theater will be sufficient. If not, please notify me about the actions that need to be taken in order to successfully meet the terms of your process. Thank you. --Asafabir (talk) 18:04, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Asafabir: Instead of using the upload wizard, you can also upload the image following the steps in the lower part of this page. In the file description editor, please add the appropriate information to the templated text like this:
{{Information
|Description= Add a full description here
|Source= Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization
|Date= When was this photo taken? E.g. 2019-01-15
|Author= Sigalit Ben Hayoun
|Permission= {{OTRS pending}}
|other_versions=
}}
You may then select a free licence from the dropdown menu. Please note that Mrs Ben Hayoun should have chosen such a licence for the image before asking you to upload it. You are not in a legal position to grant a free licence for her work. I hope this helps you with your upload. Otherwise feel free to ask again. De728631 (talk) 18:39, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
De728631 is basically on the mark, but use {{subst:OP}} rather than {{OTRS pending}}. - Jmabel ! talk 00:02, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • @De728631: @Jmabel: . Here's the thing: Mrs Ben Hayoun is waiting for me to provide her with the details (the filename and the URL path) in order to send you the permission email. But I'm not savvy with wiki-technicalities, and I'm afraid to make technical errors that will further extend this story. Is it possible to let me use the wizard and give this image a few days' grace to have all the requirements met? --Asafabir (talk) 07:27, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
      @Asafabir: Yes, using the license she chose and the canonical {{subst:OP}}.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 10:39, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Old_CISCO_logo.jpeg

This was used from the 1980s to the early 2000s. I’m assuming that it’s (still) fair use? Ominae (talk) 00:36, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Nothing about it no longer being used by the company would make it less eligible to be used on a fair use basis where that is allowed. Since that's not allowed on Commons, though, it is not relevant here.
  • As for uploading it to Commons: it's right around the threshold of originality to be eligible for copyright. It might be acceptable as {{PD-ineligible}} {{Trademarked}}, I'm really not sure; I'm particularly unsure of what Singapore's rules are about that threshold, and I see nothing about Singapore on that page. Might be better discussed at Commons:Village pump/Copyright, where there tends to be more expertise on that. - Jmabel ! talk 04:45, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Better not upload it here. Singapore inherits British law which has very low TOO.--Roy17 (talk) 08:24, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Updating Sheaffer logo & company name

On the Sheaffer Wikipedia page, the logo used is an old version. I wanted to update the name and logo to be up to date but I believe the logo would be copyrighted so I am unsure what to do. https://www.sheaffer.com/media/logo/websites/4/sheaffer_logo.png this is the new logo, and the new name is "Sheaffer Pen & Art Supply Co." (not Sheaffer Pen Company). I am also not sure how to cite that. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by SheafferKing (talk • contribs) 03:41, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

actor headshot

Hi,

I have tried to post my headshot to my page Bill_Hutchens, but it was taken down. I thought it was because I didn't credit the photographer, so I did that, but still taken down. That picture is everywhere, casting sites, my website, imdb etc, wide and far. So I don't understand the problem. What do you need?

Kind Regards, Bill Hutchens — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billhfilms (talk • contribs) 10:28, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Billhfilms: Please have photographer Robert John Auger post Commons:Licensing compliant permission for that photo on his website or social media presence or send the photo and permission via OTRS with a carbon copy to you. Using image from Internet forum

Buongiorno, vorrei caricare su Commons delle immagini che ho scaricato qualche anno fa da un sito internet, in particolare era un forum di discussione, che ha chiuso e non esiste più. Si possono caricare? Che tipo di licenza devo mettere? Grazie — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaspar74 (talk • contribs) 08:22, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • You cannot upload them here if you are not the copyright holder and the copyright holder has not issued a free license. You cannot make up a license to waive someone else's rights! - Jmabel ! talk 08:29, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I downloaded the file, but I received a message «The uploader did not provide sufficient information (a valid and suitable tag) on this media's copyright status». What should I do? -- Vezirus (talk) 19:51, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Vezirus: You forgot to give out a license. For File:Rozanov by Leon Bakst (1901).jpg, the work is published on 1901, and the author died at 1924. Template:PD-Russia-1996 is therefore applicable here, and I have added for you. Remember that unless you are sure that an image is in US and its source country's public domain, or it is released under a free license, then please do not upload such images, thank you.廣九直通車 (talk) 02:24, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I want to upload an MP3 of Apollo 11 countdown. The file is in the public domain because it is solely created by NASA. However, I always get a warning about copyright violation when I upload the file. Can I get permission to do so?

Muchas gracias,

Un saludo. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.5.192.232 (talk) 14:14, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is a monument picture allowed?

took this photo, and several like it. However, I am confused about what photos are allowed to be uploaded. Is a monument considered to be "art", and therefor not allowed?

I took photos of several more monuments on the Courthouse Square. Can they be uploaded to Commons? My plan would be to then update the corresponding articles on Wikipedia. Is this allowed to do? —TSchiroMGA (talk) 15:19, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Though, U.S. copyright has no freedom-of-panorama exception for non-buildings, I don't see anything copyrightable in this "monument". In the current image, the inscription and the small icon/image would be de minimis, IMO. However, a close-up photo of the inscription would not be o.k. --Túrelio (talk) 15:50, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Wikimedia Commons!

Forgive me if this is the wrong avenue to ask this, but I recently came across an image that is listed under public domain that I would like to reuse. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Green_Chinese_dragon.PNG This page, to be specific. However, the user that released it into PD, a user named "Nyo," seems to no longer exist, and his/her userpage is rife with odd tests and other detritus in the logs. Would you be able to inform me if the "Public Domain" tag on the image is still reliable/accurate?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 47.148.85.229 (talk) 01:46, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

We would not be able to inform you of basically anything you can't see for yourself. The public domain tag is still as reliable or unreliable as it always was and you're going to have to rely on it at your own discretion.--Prosfilaes (talk) 03:14, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ancestry

Working with my family data on Ancestry.Com/Wikipedia, I find lots data is correct, There IS a LACK of Township data for states & Canada. There is confusion if township data is deleted/renamed over time. Even direct websites do not mention townships. Data is very vital for correct location, cemeteries being one of the largest. If one has a name of a place, or township, the two are often not related to each other in the data provided. could you do to help? surfer-joe — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 2600:8800:6780:E6E0:B5BD:74E0:33C4:4AE5 (talk) 03:32, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
