Several Guantanamo documents refer to Marwan Jawan.

Marwan Jawan is explicitly named in the Guantanamo threat matrix. Three alternate versions of this name were listed here: "Marwan Ahmad Muqbil Salih"; "Marwan Qassim Jawan"; and "Abu Ali al Yafii". Individual detainee assessments say that knowing someone named Marwan or Gaawan was considered equivalent to knowing "Marwan Jawan".

The descriptions of Marwan Jawan seem to contain enough inconsistencies to cast doubt that they all referred to a single individual.

• The threat matrix says Marwan Jawan had fought in both Afghanistan and Chechnya.

1. ISN 43 said Marwan was a "childhood friend", who he had grown up with. But he was Moqbel was born in 1980, which makes it unlikely he could be a "childhood f riend" with someone who had fought against the Soviets in the 1980s.
